Project Summary
The project “Plan your career success today” focuses on the problem of finishing education too early and it was the answer to the needs of students and teachers from the cooperating schools. The project was performed by three schools from Poland, Croatia and Latvia. The main participants were pupils aged 12-15 and their teachers committed to the project. The students worked in the project’s teams. Each of them consisted of 15 members who were guided by their teachers. The combined mobility of pupils in Poland (C1) was attended by: 8 pupils from Latvia and Croatia, and 16 pupils from Poland. In the Combined Mobility of Students in Latvia (C2) 10 students from Poland, 6 students from Croatia, and 9 students from Latvia took part. The combined mobility of pupils in Croatia (C3) was attended by: 8 pupils from Poland and Latvia, and 6 pupils from Croatia. Four teachers from each pertner school took part in teachers’ mobilities (C4, C5, C6). However, the scope of influence of the project was much wider because the communities of cooperating schools, and the effects of work were disseminated not only in the local society but also during visits of the participants of different Erasmus+, meetings with other teachers (Education Fair, symposia).
The main target, of planned activities (mobilities, educational trips workshops, contests and events), was giving students some skills, which are necessary in the nowadays labour market, to pursue their future careers. This is why, all the students involved in the project developed their interests, found out their strong points and learnt how to use them effectively. What is more, teenagers defined their job predispositions. They also gained knowledge about different occupations, prospects of employment and essential qualifications indispensable in doing particular jobs. Moreover, the pupils had an opportunity to familiarize with the educational offer of the local secondary schools, technical collages and basic vocational schools (Education Fair).During workshops the teenagers gained such skills as: creative thinking in solving problems and self-presentation. Students also learnt how to connect talents, qualities and interests with their future job career (workshops “How to turn a passion into a profession?”).Furthermore, thanks to the work in the project’s school teams and international groups students developed their communication skills and teamwork abilities. Real and virtual mobilities of teenagers helped them in braking social cultural and language barriers. The mobilities expanded pupils’ knowledge about culture and tradition of countries involved in the project. The additional benefit of the project was the increase of ICT skills among students and their teachers. What is more, teachers who took part in the mobilities and those who were involved in the project activities in their own schools developed their knowledge and competences related to career counseling. Moreover, thanks to exchange of best practices tutors had a chance to introduce innovative forms and methods of teaching in their schools (“job-shadowing”-video libraty).Furthermore, the international collaboration was used to create a base of lessons’ scripts and other teaching resources indispensable in career counseling for students. The final goal of the project is creating an innovative career consultancy programme for youths which consists of useful teaching resources, lessons’ scripts, examples of best practices derived from cooperating schools. The programme becomes a part of curriculum in each partner’s school and will be used after finishing of the project. An additional added value of the project and its result is the “job shadowing” library based on a modified Latvian “job-shadowing” programme. Pupils shot and edited short films about various professions alone or with the help of their teachers. The library will be available for subsequent years during their vocationa guidance classes and will contribute not only to the increasing their knowledge about various professions, but also to the development of ICT skills, and perhaps also to the choice of their further professional paths.Apart from the results listed above, the project improved the quality of career counseling in each partner’s school which had a beneficial impact on standards of teaching. The project also contributed to the development of motivation and activeness among teachers and students. As a result, teenagers do not so often finish their education too early. In addition, the collaboration of the project’s schools with the local secondary, basic vocational schools and technical collages is and will be carried on after finishing the project. Thanks to the acquired knowledge and experience teachers more willingly take part in the future international projects. All activities contributed to the promotion of school in the local environment and the dissemination of European Union values among the local and regional community of partner schools.
