Project Summary
Against the background of the increasing discrimination of minorities and the increase of migration, as well as the rising challenges to meet the needs of inclusion and in favour of democratic values, our main objective was to reduce discrimination of all kind. Fear and distrust towards other people that differ on specific levels (religion, appearance, social status etc.) in comparison to the apparent majority seem to increase. We realized there was a need to promote key competences (especially social, personal and professional competences). Our main objectives were therefore: Reflection of prejudices, acting against discrimination of all kinds and realising that we are an active part of a diverse and multicultuaral Europe and use this for our personal and professional development. Participating schools presented their expertise by introducing Best-Practice-Examples, which were then used by the other schools. Students worked in international groups over the two years on the subject of prejudices from schools from Germany, Bulgaria, Turkey and Hungary. About 80 people were able to travel and broarden their minds and widen their horizons.
The impacts of this project are as follows: particitpants realised that differences are usually fraught with prejudices and stereotypes and they are now able to reflect upon those prejudices. They see themselves as a part of a solidary Europe and develop into responsible citizens. They approve of human rights as the greatest good and understand tolerance as a base for a peaceful coexistence. They don’t see migration as threatening but understand the cultural diversity that accompanies it as a social enrichment.
