Project Summary
The project “Practical student training” is a partnership of Cesta Uspesnych (The way of the successful) z.s. and Akvitiva Zvysuje uspech (Activity towards success) n.o. Both organizations act as one of the largest student organizations in their countries with a nationwide influence. Both organizations has long sought to help higher education students in acquiring important skills that are not paid enough attention to during the study. The project provided university students and young people with practical skills for their personal development. These skills have been pointed out through live online lectures and their recordings with experienced mentors and entrepreneurs, and through a series of video tutorials that briefly and clearly featured different skills and offered tasks that the viewer can fulfill to reach the intended goal. Another result of the project is the transfer of an existing Slovak web portal to the Czech environment. Through the portal, students could search for offerings where they could put their newly gained skills into practice.
Our goal while creating the project was to connect both organizations and our experience so that we can transfer the good practices to one another. By combining our forces, we have been able to increase our influence on a group of young people and bring them timeless content that they can use in the future.
Within the project we organized 80 lectures by entrepreneurs, experienced managers, trainers and personal development experts. At least 75% of them were streamed in live broadcasting to the public, enabling all university students as well as those from other groups to be able to take part on the lecture. We also filmed 200 daily training sessions of practical soft skills, which we divided into 20 series. We also transferred the portal to link students with companies to the Czech Republic to create space for students so they could use their knowledge in practice as the companies were enabled to offer them through the portal different projects, topics for writing diploma theses in companies, company internships and more. All project activities served to systematically develop the practical skills of the target group and their application in practice.
Both partners have experience working with youth on a nation-wide level. AZU has 8 branches, CU has 4 branches in university cities. The added value of this partnership was the improvement of current activities of both organisations and consolidation of the complex services for the focus group, who gained better skills for their first careers and improved their situation at the labour market. The main benefit for the organizers was to gain experience with managing international projects. Thanks to this opportunity, both partners will be able to create larger and more ambitious projects on European level.
