Project Summary

Higher education institutions (HI) are the bearers of contemporary educational trends and modalities of sustainable management education. Sustainability principles have many applications in the field of project management. A large number of organizations aspire to be project oriented and bring higher value to the whole society. The main goal of the project is development of an international course, under the title “Projectification and Sustainable Governance of Projects”, in collaboration between University of Iceland, Vilnius University and University of Belgrade. Intensive course will be involved into study process of Master studies in partner universities during the three year period. The course will be based on a variety of teaching methods and will address the management of project-oriented organizations and the sustainability aspect of project management. Project will include five work packages (WP): WP 1 – Preparation for the Course development (lead by Lithuania); WP2 – Course development (lead by Iceland); WP3 – Course pilot (lead by Serbia); WP4 – Promotion of the Course (lead by Serbia); WP5 – Consortium Coordination (lead by Iceland). There are three different intellectual outputs types, namely: 1. Curriculum for intensive course (based on 3 iterations); 2. Teachers e-handbook; 3. e-Handbook of the course.

The collaboration aims to improve the mobility of teachers and students and to promote internationalization among the participating countries. The main results of the project will be presented through periodic reports and documents published on the official web portals of the participating countries (Iceland, Lithuania and Serbia) concerning the following aspects: a. Improvement of higher education and Master academic studies through internationalization of courses for students of participating countries (Iceland, Lithuania and Serbia), tailored to their needs in terms of format (lectures, interactive training and workshops) and content (innovative approach to project management); b. Created curriculum and material (developed collaborative knowledge base) on sustainable project management, which will serve as a basis for subsequent course improvements. Also, case studies will be created for each country in the context of sustainable project management; c. Improvement of the collaboration, mobility and competencies of university professors and associates competent to carry out study activities within this course; d. Enhanced student mobility through a network of students ready and willing to participate in the international exchange and dissemination of innovative knowledge and practices.

The internationalization of teaching courses at Master Academic Studies influences that teachers, associates, students and institutions participating in the project enhance the competencies and capacities, which support the project results. Through the exchange of experiences, teaching curricula and methods, as well as expert literature, among the participating countries, contemporary trends in the analysis of project orientation and sustainable project management in the examples of Iceland, Lithuania and Serbia will be presented. Activities that, in addition to disseminating project results, will affect the sustainability of the project include the formation of an Alumni Club within the course (project management program), with the aim of gathering and sharing acquired knowledge and experience at the international level, as well as the continuous dissemination of collaborative aspects among participating countries. Also, initiating cooperation with companies through participation in the practical part of teaching (guest lectures, company visits, case studies) will influence the quality of the teaching process, teaching materials and approaches used for project management.
