Project Summary
The « Promote School Climate and Work the Fundamentals through sustainable development » project is aimed at primary and secondary school students in European primary and secondary schools. Its theme is sustainable development and European citizenship.
The Jules Vallès network, i.e. the Jehan de Grouchy 2, Louise Michel, Edouard Vaillant primary scholols and Jules Vallès secondary school, with its experience in organizing a first KA1, wishes to extend this strategic partnership with the European schools Mokykla “Sokratus”, of Vilnius and CEIP Maestra Caridad Ruiz, of Sanlucar de Barrameda.
The partners have targeted in a collaborative way the different common issues related to the chosen themes and wish to cooperate in the service of the pupils.
In a sometimes difficult school climate, the schools express the need to develop a strategy to raise awareness of European citizenship for pupils.
The training of eco-delegates, the creation of decision-making structures and the participation of everyone will enable pupils to take responsibility, enrich their thinking and become actors in an innovative European project.
Moreover, this project is part of an inter-degree approach with the aim of setting up common practices between schools, i.e. promoting pedagogical innovation, enhancing the use of digital tools and using modern means of communication.
From the start of the 2020 school year, in the context of Education for Sustainable Development, each structure will organise a council of eco-delegates, elected by their peers, who will have to take decisions and present their conclusions to school, administrative and eco-citizen councils at European level. Specific training for pupils in the English language and in the use of digital technology will be put in place.
There will be two mobilities of eight to twelve pupils from 5th and 6th grade (CM2-6ème): volunteer and committed students, per primary school/secondary school.
These pupils will be welcomed by one of the partners who has defined a detailed programme according to the learning objectives selected.
They will take place over five days and will consist of sharing and participating in class life around three common projects:
– Shared Gardens: The discovery of the usefulness of biodiversity.
– Landscape Reading: The discovery of Natural Parks.
– Nature Around us – Between the Natural and the Created.
The pupils will have to report on their work through the creation of video reports, photos, lapbook and will be shared between all the schools.
These projects will be carried out by all the structures at the same time, from February 2021, for two years.
During the implementation of the project, the teachers will exchange frequently in order to bring the project to life via the e-twinning platform .
One volunteer referent will be chosen per primary school/secondary school, who will have to act as a link within the primary/secondary school itself, between pupils and between the different partners.
He/she will organise in a concerted manner the eco-delegate, eco-citizen and mobility councils.
He/she will be able to rely on primary/secondary school teams that are familiar with the organisation of European projects.
The dissemination of the conclusions could be done through the e-twinning platform, but also through the various Instagram/Twitter accounts of the primary and secondary schools or through the creation of a private Youtube channel dedicated to the project.
The European schools selected were chosen for their dynamism, their work carried out in Education for Sustainable Development, in fine to fight against early school leaving and to reinforce key competences, according to ministerial prerogatives.
The « Promote School Climate and Work the Fundamentals through sustainable development » project offers multiple perspectives, and will require the Jules Vallès network and its strategic partnership to be strengthened and opened up to the outside world for the benefit of the pupils.
The expected impact is therefore a reflection on climate issues, citizenship and an awareness of the European dimension from a very young age.
The development of an appetite for mobility contributes to the development of a pool of knowledge about the Erasmus programme at both local and European level, which would enable its dissemination.
This project would strengthen the linguistic, cultural and professional skills of the pupils, but also of the professionals involved, who could be ressource personnel for the organisation of a future Erasmus project.
