Project Summary

The project idea comes from the need of the partner organizations to discuss on a very current topic for adult education: the recognition of non-formal and informal competences, in a time when a skilled workforce is essential to develop a competitive, sustainable and innovative economy in line with Europe 2020 goals. Unemployment rate, in France, Italy and Spain, is over the EU average with millions of people in Europe (23.5 % of EU population) still at risk of poverty and social exclusion. Adults who prematurely leave the labour market will probably never find another job opportunity because of the lack of updated skills. People coming from non-EU countries are forced to humble and poorly qualified jobs because their qualifications are not recognised. Disadvantaged groups (disabled, migrants and refugees, women with children, long term unemployed or people with temporary jobs) are often excluded by the labour market because their non formal and informal competences, acquired in their life experience, are not appreciated and formally recognised.
This diverse situation determined the partner organizations to involve in this exchange of practice directly and indirectly over 250 adult learners and the staff of the organizations working with adults.
The project aims to develop, assess and enhance the skills and competences of adult population, especially people at risk of social and professional exclusion and to promote the system of recognition of non formal and informal competences in Europe. The objective is to enable adults to find suitable employment and participate in the labour market and society.
Specific objectives:
SO1:Develop adult soft skills and key competences (Personal, social and learning to learn competence, Entrepreneurship competence) useful to deal with finding and maintaining employment
SO2: Improve information about the recognition of non-formal and informal competences systems in Europe
SO3:Promote professional and social inclusion of disadvantaged adults though a Professional Project and through the assessment, valorization and recognition of experiences and competences acquired in non formal and informal environment
SO4: Exchange and create methodologies and tools for adult education activities, in order to build a common framework for planning a future MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) according to the target needs.
This project is carried out transnationally by 5 organizations with a different nature, working in countries where the recognition of competences is practised with different methodologies and at different levels, in order to compare their systems and exchange their practices.
The main activities carried out will include:
– preparation activities, 4 transnational project meetings, 1 Blended mobility for adult learners and 3 Short-term joint staff training events for adult educators/professionals;
– Local activity I: 1. Research and Analysis of recognition of non-formal and informal competences system in the participant countries; 2. Tools sharing for competences assessment, validation and recognition through a web platform in the project website
– Creation of the project website and related blog for exchanging non formal and informal learning experiences of the adult learners. Creation of reserved pages to access useful files and tools shared by the participants
– Local activity II: 1. skills assessment and tools experimentation for the validation and recognition of non formal and informal competences; 2. creation of a CV model in each national language and in English that appreciates and enhances non-formal skills which will be uploaded in the web platform; 3. Analysis of the training and learning needs of adult target group; 4. Creation of a Professional Plan for career implementation and self promotion (experimentation with at least 12 adult learners in each partner organizations).
The methodology used for the project will be implemented in 4 phases: initiation, planning, execution and control phase.
The activities will lead to the achievement of the following project results: Research and Analysis of recognition of non-formal and informal competences system in the participant countries; Tools collection for competences assessment, validation and recognition; CV model that appreciates and enhances non-formal skills; Analysis Report of the training and learning needs of adult target group; Professional Plan for career implementation and self promotion experimented with at least 12 adult learners in each partner organizations; a common framework for planning a future MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) according to the target needs.
The project will have an impact at local, regional and European level, raising awareness of the importance of lifelong learning and recognition of competences acquired in a non-formal and informal context, promoting social and professional inclusion of disadvantaged adults.
