Project Summary

Emerging from a severe financial crisis, Europe faces growing social inequalities, diverse populations, populism, radicalisation, and terrorist threats. New technologies and digital communication are transforming societies, changing lifestyles, consumption patterns and power relationships in economic value chains. In this changing landscape, the role of culture is more important than ever. The New European Agenda for Culture (2018) responds to the European Leaders’ invitation to do more, through culture and education, to build cohesive societies and offer a vision of an attractive European Union. It aims to harness the full potential of culture to help build a more inclusive and fairer Union, supporting innovation, creativity and sustainable jobs and growth.

PRIORITIES:
– YOUTH: Promoting entrepreneurship education and social entrepreneurship activities among young people
– HORIZONTAL: Social and educational value of European cultural heritage, its contribution to job creation, economic growth and social inclusion
– HORIZONTAL: Open education and innovative practices in a digital era

OBJECTIVES:
– To promote social entrepreneurship education, cultural awareness and digital competences in an attempt to address issues of rural development and urbanisation.
– To develop an open, dynamic and interactive WEB PORTAL and MOBILE APP which will MAP the CULTURAL HERITAGE aspects using AUGMENTED REALITY thus allowing the potential to create CULTURAL ROUTES of tangible (monument, artefact, clothing, historic town etc.), intangible (skill, expression, performing art etc.) and natural (landscape etc.) spaces across each partner’s country using each region as the basis.
– To create the CLOUD BASED e-LEARNING and e-ASSESSMENT PLATFORM/ TOOL which will offer various functionalities such as,
– e-LEARNING tools, resources, material related to the project will be collected, uploaded and reviewed or created in order to support youth workers and young people
– e-COMMUNITY in order to exchange ideas, promote their work, ideas, products, services etc. supported by the creation of videos and story-telling.
– e-ASSESSMENT/ VALIDATION tool to be offered to all participants based on the idea of the Open Badges which will be based on the benchmarks and indicators defined as part of the CULTURAL ENTREPRENEURIAL FRAMEWORK to be developed for the monitoring and assessment of the essential skills.

PARTICIPANTS:
The project targets Young People and Youth Workers (with expertise related to culture, literacy, history or the arts such as students, unemployed graduates with qualification in History, Culture, Theater, Culture etc.) who will become CULTURAL ENTREPRENEURS by acquiring social entrepreneurial competences to set up their own CONNECTED DIGITALROUTES@CULTURE CENTRE. It also Youth Workers whose profiles will be upgraded through a professional development course in order to be able to support Young People’s initiatives to be promoters of cultural heritage.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES:
METHODOLOGY:
7 partner organisations from 6 different EU countries covering geographical needs, as well as needs in terms of expertise, experience and competences will be working on this project. The seven organisations represent not only Youth Organisations, but also the labour market, the research and scientific sector, the training sector as well as the social entrepreneurial sector. The project is planned to be implemented in 30 months based on 5 intellectual outputs ranging from the development of a competence framework, open dynamic tools such as a web platform, mobile app using augmented reality functionalities, a tool kit and a series of motivational videos.

IMPACT:
– Young People will become familiar with the cultural heritage of different regions within their country of residence and explore further cultural heritage on a European level. This will enhance their appreciation of the common values, foster inter-cultural dialogue, respect and equality.
– They will be given the opportunity to acquire social entrepreneurial skills as well as digital in order to explore new routes into career orientation and employment
– Youth Workers’s profiles will be upgraded and will be able to improve the quality of non-formal learning activities to meet the needs of the labour market
