Project Summary
The project involves three schools located in a territory rich in cultural traditions but which need to be valued to promote the development of the local economy and the enhancement of cultural heritage. It arises from a need already noted in the ptof of the institutes and for which planning actions are already planned. Priority objectives are: the knowledge of the local cultural heritage, the acquisition of data and documents useful for the protection and conservation of a local heritage at risk of disappearing, the awareness of the similarities and differences between the different popular traditions present in Europe, the acquisition of basic notions for starting and running businesses, improving linguistic and IT skills. The children involved in the mobilitIies will be 75 but a total of about 1500 students will be involved. They will be identified among third and fourth year students (aged between 16 and 18). The activities will be: research and data collection on different aspects of the local cultural heritage (monuments, popular traditions, traditional recipes, folk songs …), inclusion of such data in a specially created website (in the form of video, photographic documentation, texts also translated into English, articles and reflections written by the students), sharing of such material with an eTwinning project to which other schools can participate, guided visits to cultural heritage promotion structures and companies, start simulation activities and management of a company, production of video products to be presented to the students and to the community of the school to which they belong, to other schools on the occasion of mobility and orientation activities, to the whole community on the occasion of some events planned for the dissemination of the objectives achieved. The methodologies used will be all laboratory-based and in the form of field research, acquisition and reprocessing of the data provided. At the end of the project, the students will have to improve their behavior and school outcomes in all disciplines, improve their linguistic and informatics skills, learn about the local cultural heritage and reflect on the way in which they can start a business with the resources present in the territory, and increase the sense of belonging to a European community that makes us all the same despite the differences. In the long run, the phenomenon of emigration from the territories in which the schools are located may be reduced and some youngsters may decide to create business activities to enhance the local cultural heritage. Furthermore, the local community could all benefit from the enhancement of the youngsters involved as local tourist guides, in collaboration with the local pro loco and the municipal administration.
