Project Summary
Context and background of the project:
Both hospitality schools Bad Hofgastein and Koksijde were founded in the late 1940s. They can look back on a long tradition in the fields of culinary arts as well as beverage service. Approximately 320/350 students are taught at each location. Both schools are experts in the following areas: Koksijde is world wide known for the great gastronomy: high class Belgian cuisine with specialization in fish and chocolate, Bad Hofgastein – located in the Gastein valley, well known for its spas as well as long tradition in hospitality, focuses in the areas of wellness and health tourism as well as Austrian cuisine / pastries.
This expertise should be exchanged and then published on a European level.
The aim of this project is to consolidate and enhance the key qualifications mentioned above. This promotes our chosen priority: providing support for individuals to acquire and develop basic skills and key qualifications in the digital age.
Due to this project, students and teachers should acquire the following competences:
• occupational mobility and flexibility
• social competencies through working in intercultural teams
• communication skills in an international context as well as workplace (CLIL)
• creativity in the kitchen and service
This international project does not only allow students to acquire and enhance the above-mentioned competences, but it also increases their chances on the international job market. Tours and inspections of fisheries and agricultural sites support the students’ sustainable and regional thinking, just like the conscious handling of the products.
Digitalisation dominates most areas of our daily lives. Therefore, students are required to constantly develop and refine their digital skills. The use of eTwinning serves as a prime example how participants can handle international projects with digital methods. This experience can prove useful and relevant for both their private and professional future.
Number and profile of the participants:
Bad Hofgastein: 17 students of master class 2 and 3 (aged 15-17), 1 teacher from the practical department
Koksidje: 20 students of specialisation (aged 18-19), 1 teacher from the practical department
