Project Summary
“Raising capacities for Global STEPS” emerges from a series of demands for capacity building during a previous Strategic Partnership : Global STEPS is an online tool created to reveal Global Citizenship skills, and many professionals and organisations want to adopt it. Based on a self-assessment test, Global STEPS provides an easy-to-access opportunity to identify one’s own skills, explain and illustrate them during job applications, build self-confidence and to challenge oneself to continue improving. More than 200 participants have taken the test and generated their own certificate. Volunteering organizations, international mobility organizations, social community workers, job advisers working with migrants…many professionals are interested in this as an impact measurement tool that also brings benefits to the users.
We are going to implement a capacity building strategy to facilitate the use of Global STEPS by a wide global professional audience with 3 main steps :
– Improve the recognition of Global STEPs as a tool available for professionals (WP1 with IO1 and IO5)
– Train professionals to support young people and adults to recognize their Global Citizens’ skills and maximise the impact of global STEPS (WP2 with IO2 and IO3)
– Extend Global STEPS to be used by more participants (WP3 with IO4)
To achieve those general results, we will develop :
– a study and policy briefing to improve recognition of Global Citizenship skills (IO1)
– a toolkit to use Global STEPS in any organization (IO2)
– a large training offer to give the keys to unlock effective use of Global STEPS (IO3)
– an extension of the existing tool in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries, and for smartphone use (IO4)
– a recognition system with badges (including Digital Badges) (IO5)
We will first concentrate on the extension of the tool, and organize a large multiplier event to promote it. Then, we will develop the training materials and work with our local target groups to ensure an efficient use of Global STEPS in a large variety of organizations.
About 170 professionals will be trained in the 5 different countries, and we expect more than 400 participants to take the test and generate their certificate by the end of the project. Stakeholders from public institutions, private organizations and civil society will be involved. An informal network of Global STEPS ambassadors will emerge from this project.
