Project Summary

The Rambler Studio Project
The Rambler Studio Project is a “German-Dutch” collaboration between Neue Chance, Streetcornerwork and Stichting Rambler. Three youth care organizations that specialize in multi-problem teens and who operate Rambler Studios in Berlin and Amsterdam.
These Studios use fashion design to increase the problem solving skills of multi-problem teens with an innovative set of youth care services. Finding the best in both fashion and youth care.
We have created a program that will strengthen the skills of the youth care workers involved, create a better understanding of the work methods in both Berlin and Amsterdam, form a platform of the exchange of best practices and a broad discussion between three organizations involved about the future of youth care in the EU.
The Rambler Studio Project has the capacity to invite both public and private sector partners to join this discussion. It’s direct link to the fashion industry creates an open and creative atmosphere that allows professionals from the fashion industry to give their input both on the work floor and on an organizational level.
We have written a methodology/guideline book of the best practices of the Rambler Studio Project. This book will be an invitation to other European youth care organizations to start a Rambler studio. On the convention and during the events we had the opportunity to share our experiences. On basis of this project it’s our intention to form a network of European Rambler studios by youth care organizations that will join the exchange of knowledge and best practices. This will ensure that this discussion will continue long after this grant. Forging a lasting EU relationship in youth care.

The project has provided a structured exchange of knowledge, best practices and international understanding within youth care. It has enabled youth care workers, creative workers and life style coaches to increase their skills and know-how and implement the knowledge in their organization and added value to a basis on which innovation can take place with private sector partners.

Participating organisations:
1. Neue Chance – Social Work Studio Berlin
Neue Chance is the organization in Berlin for social housing and the guiding of the people. Neue Chance is working with Rambler in an exchange program to run a second Rambler Studio in Berlin. In the studio, Neue Chance will guide the teens with their questions to get out of the streets.
2. Streetcornerwork – Social Work Studio Amsterdam
Streetcornerwork is the organization in Amsterdam for guiding street teens. They meet them on the streets and coach them in their offices through out in the city. So also at the Rambler Studio. Teens in the studio can be coached with their questions towards housing, school, work and their personal life. It gives them the trust and the ability to get out of the streets.
3. Stichting Rambler Amsterdam
Stichting Rambler Amsterdam is the developer of the Rambler Studio, with in Amsterdam a running studio since 2010. Rambler offers a creative platform for street teens to design authentic streetwear and to develop streetwise talents. An award winning concept that creates the best out of two worlds, street wear fashion and youth care.

The Rambler Studio basically runs on 3 programs :
1. The Creative program is where we’re creating our fashion with multi-problem/street teens through their authentic talents. We have experiences that this is a great way to connect the teens to Rambler, to create unique street fashion and to strengthen and coach the teens in the meantime;
2. The Workfloor program is where the teens work with a coach to further develop their employee skills and learn practical know-how skills. The aim is to coach them to an education and/or work and with that economic and social independence.
3. The Lifestyle program is where our social partners works with the teens in the Rambler Studios on their personal questions whenever they ask for. Our target group can be quite complex and the lifestyle coach uses the social network for expert care if needed to solve their problems.

The strength of Rambler is unlocking the creativity within a group that is unique in the world of fashion. Rambler is gradually going to get a reputation for alternative ways of looking at fashion and presenting fashion.
