Project Summary
Regarding the PISA results, the partner schools made a survey among their students ,called PIS(Personal Identification Survey) aiming to observe what their tendencies, habits and school satisfactions were.According to this,we saw there was an inclination to usage of internet, misundersding of socialising and unwillingness towards reading habit.%38 of them told they never read books and %52 of them read one book in a year,%26 said their abilities weren’t cared.Supporting our survey’s result, the data from PISA 2015 showed that young people have fully embraced the Internet as a tool for socialising and many think it’s a great resource to search for the most up-to-date information. The lack of reading habit is an educational problem which has increased year by year and is widespread in the world. Not only our students but also the parents are so busy with internet that they find little or no time for reading. Many students say they can reach any kind of information very fast and easily but nobody questions the quality and trueness of it.It was very strange many of our students claimed they didnt like reading either from books on paper or digitally.
Partners from Norway,Turkey,Italy,Hungary,Latvia and Portugal came together to improve students’ motivation to read with the aim of increasing their school success, satisfaction and personal development and decrease the level of early School Leaving.
During the project partners will develop, promote and disseminate educational best practices, including new teaching methods and materials to enrich the quality of reading literacy. We also want to involve parents actively in the education process and make an awareness on the importance of reading at home with Family reading hour activity. We’ll arrange meetings with parents as well and benefit from them as involving them as hosting families during the LTTs.
As schools we have to provide our students opportunities to read and use technology correctly. And we’re responsible to increase their school satisfaction, school success and knowledge of understanding the whole world in order to be a good person in the future.Because our world needs
people who have 21.century skills like creativity, critical thinking,social-communicational skills, digital literacy and problem solving skill.
For this reason; we aim to make our students like reading, increase their reading comprehension and make them find reading as a habit
use internet and technological devices efficiently and safely
-improve their 21.century skills such as digital, foreign laguange, communicational, critical thinking
-collaborate with partners and transfer good practices to each other
-active involvement of parents in the project, during various project activities and while hosting students.
-reduce ealy school leaving, school drops and bullying at school
-increase our schools internationalism levels
-underline the importance of European active citizenship and have tolerance through our differences
-coopearate with other schools, institutes, libraries and directorates of national education in a better way
-enrich our teaching staff’s academic and pedagogical content knowledge
-improve our school curriculums with transferring good practices and improve our SWOT analysis
The concrete results which we want to produce with this project will be the positive changes in the survey which we will do at the end of first year and second year of our project showing the improvement towards reading. The parents involvement in the school and the collaboration with other
stakeholders with true communication are aimed in this project. We’ll decrase early school leaving percentage and increase the satisfaction of students in our schools.
We plan 5 LTTs one of which will be only for teachers. In the LTTs the participants will learn why reading is important for a person, different types of reading styles, the tecniques used for better reading and comprehension, what is information and safety at ınternet, cyberbullying and respect on
the ınternet, integrating digital and artistic skills with reading literacy.
There will be a Transnational project meeting in Hungary for the last meeting to check the outcomes and how much we meet with our objectives and to write the final report to be sent to our NAs
.The methodology in this project will be open and true communication during all stages of the project. All partners are aware of their tasks and responsibilities which were given them according to their SWOT anaysis showing what they are good at and capable of during the 1.online meeting before writing this project. All partners will make reports regarding project management, implementation, evaluation, preparation, time and budget and dissemination.
The impact of the project will be on the target group of students who are aged 14-18 in our
schools, the teaching staffs, our stakeholders like other schools, institutions, libraries and NGOs,
families of students and local people who can be affected by our projects’ results.
