Project Summary
The current project mainly focuses on the improvement of book reading and the transformation of theoretical knowledge into active practicality. It will give motivation to the students to read more and engage in activities in Arts, ICT, Media, Literature, Sociology and Volunteering, promoting thus an educated and dynamic citizenship. The development will be implemented by schools from RO ,IT, MK, PL, TR.
In comparison to other forms of information, communication and entertainment such as radio, television, PCs, mobile phones and/ or tablets, literary works are distinctly identified as a basic instrument for access to literacy and language improvement, these being the founding elements for personal growth and achievement, economic development and social coherence.
Research in our schools by the teachers has shown that only a small percentage of students enjoy book reading, recognize cultural pleasure through it or treasure the Arts in terms of formal education. Our results seem to fall in place with a research made by American Academy of Art& Science, which showed that book reading was for mere pleasure, not for school or work, with the population having read at least one book in the previous 12 months; The MK:64% ; RO:%56; IT: %54; PL: %54; TR:%21.
OBJECTIVES
Over the completion of the project, our students will be urged to read more and become familiar with the Arts, ICT, Media, Literature and Social Education. They will grow into active readers who can produce their own literary works, showing them the value and importance of books. The project will also give the students the opportunity to appreciate literature from other countries, make comparisons and distinctions and embrace cultural heritage.
ACTIVITIES
The project evolves through two types of action. On one part, students will read books covering a large area of interest such as fiction, poetry, philosophy, biographies, history and on the other part, they will practice in activities such as scenario development, writing essays, poetry creation, magazines, dramatization and short film making. Each partner will read their own national books and coming together in the LTTA meetings, they will discuss them and produce activities together in the framework of multi nationality.
METHODOLOGY
At the beginning of the project, we will set up project/literary clubs in the schools and will ask the students to join the club. Minimum 50 students will be accepted and involved. They will be divided into 5 teams constituting the Literature Team, the ICT team, the Culture Team, the Magazine Team and the Arts Team. These teams will be assigned tasks of a certain duration in regard to stages and project activities. All teams will cooperate and support the main body of the project under the supervision of all the teachers. There will be one teacher in charge of every team. In terms of student selection, there will be a very serious evaluation done by the teachers and numeric results will be announced. The students with the best performances will be chosen, regarding their own special skills and the needs of the project.
There will be 5 LTTAs in two years. The teachers will guide the students to take part in all activities involved such as book reading, scenario writing, magazine creation, film moving, preparation of Erasmus+ corner, taking photos and videos in order to create digital material, logo contest, seminar participation, preparing traveller manuals and guides, creating positive vibes in the school environment, thus embracing all members in the school community. The activities and required methodology of the subtopics will be prepared by the teachers in charge of every project team. Working plans will be created according to the individual school environment and facilities.
PARTICIPANTS
The project is mainly prepared for the students, all stages being student-cantered. The teaching staff will act as supervisors and beneficiaries. All members of the administrative staff will be the other participants. Parents and the local community will be the side beneficiaries, as they constitute the target group towards which the project activities, outputs and results are disseminated.
IMPACT
All participants of the project will benefit from the partnership on all possible personal and professional levels, either directly or indirectly. The mere opportunity to be in direct and constant contact with students and teachers from other countries, co-working for the achievement of common goals can only lead to positive changes within the institutions involved.
