Project Summary

The IIS Colasanti and the other institutions that make up the partnership intend to promote the acquisition of skills and competences aimed at developing a sense of belonging to European citizenship, through studying and analysing literature.
REALS Project arise from the idea of IIS Colasanti management body to open the school outwards, in particular to open up to Europe in order to compare and acquire good practices already in place at partner schools.
Literature has been chosen as a teaching-educational tool shared on the assumption that the great problems of human existence treated in literature constitute the common roots on which European citizenship is based. So that literature contributes, as it did and does in national consciousness development, also to the strengthening of the European conscience.
Through the REALS project, partners schools start a comparative survey among European Countries, managed by students, on literature teaching aimed at the discovery and the study of European citizenship’s foundational values, for strengthening critical thinking and for establishing an open and inclusive school.
Main objectives:
• Opening school to an European dimension through cooperation and comparison among schools
• Acquisition by students of social, civic and intercultural competences, promoting democratic values and fundamental rights, social inclusion and active citizenship with particular regard to immigrant students
• Strengthening of critical thinking and of the student’s active role

• Identify basic and transversal skills in order to develop the critical sense and to stimulate the active role of the student through laboratory activities of reading, analysis and study of European literature
• Acquired social, civic and intercultural competences aimed at the development of social inclusion and active citizenship through the shared reading and study of European literature
• Assisted formation of a European consciousness through the knowledge of common cultural roots given by the analysis of common themes of European literature
