Project Summary
The project “Safe drones over safe environment” presents cooperation for technological innovations and environmental performance Improvement which are the most important needs of the industry. As aeronautical institutions around Europe our cooperation has aim to improve environmental friendly applications in the sector within our capabilities. The project gives chance to share experiences, exchange good practices and cooperate to transfer our schools to a higher level expanding and internationalizing the educational and technical activities of the institutions and participants. Each school will design its own drone with anti-collision systems useful to plan swarm drones environmental missions with equipped camera and sensors for obtaining environmental data.
Sharing our expertise with new brand partners improves our competencies in designing advanced drones equipped with environmental devices to acquire data. Developing environment data mining algorithms seeks out correlations between measures and climate change effects. New design of anti-collision systems will be useful to plan swarm drones environmental missions. Drones and environmental data sensors related contents environment data analysis contents could be integrated in school curriculum and students be provided with contents, skills and competencies useful for new era jobs.
Drones are ideal to fly into inaccessible or dangerous areas to assess and prevent environmental disasters. Drones can help to clarify ways in which climate change is altering the earth by collecting data on endangered species and on erosion and deforestation. They also could allow officials to determine how to deploy resources, minimize damage and save lives. All the effort that is made is not enough and that is what students must learn. In our project, more than 60 students and 20 aviation teachers will design and build a drone which will be reproduced entirely by all schools, using the least polluting materials available and even biodegradable products. It will be equipped with different sensors and a camera for monitoring the environment. During LTT activities, participants test drone performance and find the best results, solutions and conclusions in terms of technological and environmental performance Improvement. The result will represent the advance of interdisciplinary skills needed for projecting and assembling anti-collision drones and for using them in a context of Environmental Researches. Our online resource platform gathers information from good practices and similar experiences to be used in future researches. Tutorials, videos, textbooks, guidelines and research results will be available to not only all other members of partners’ schools but all stakeholders and aviation authorities willing to deepen this field of technological and environmental performance innovations.
Drones and IOs will be used as didactic and educational resource after project completion. All data and studies, both prior and execution and the maintenance of the material itself will be uploaded to the eTwinning platform and project website for public consultation or serve as a basis for new projects. Showing up the project achievements and results at every possible occasion (conferences, seminars, schoolopen days, or through media) will make other schools and all stakeholders be interested in the drone design and construction process, its equipment and the software that manages the results.
