Project Summary

The project “SCHOOL FOR S.K.I.L.L.S. – SCHOOL alliance FOR Soft and Key competences in Lifelong Learning of Schools” foresees the realization of a transnational training course on the strengthening of the European key competences and the transversal ones, necessary to complete the profiles of the students leaving the professional training courses and to enhance the skills and the technical knowledge acquired by them. The latest Recommendation of the Council of the European Union of May 2018 on key competences for lifelong learning shows that, despite a greater focus by the education systems of the Member States on improving basic and transversal skills, there is still a long way to go to ensure that the younger generations can position themselves adequately in the future labor market. The new framework of key competences proposed by the EU Council takes into account the changes that are affecting the world of work, which is increasingly in need of a human capital that possesses personal, social, civic and basic skills in order to be able to adapt to uncertainty and to develop resilience skills. It is therefore necessary to promote high quality educational systems, whose Training Offers are accompanied by extracurricular activities and a broad approach to teaching that promotes the development of soft and key skills.
In the light of these considerations, the project “SCHOOL FOR S.K.I.L.L.S.” is proposed by a transnational partnership composed of the State Higher Education Institute “G. Ferraris”, the “Kaunas Vocational School of Household Services and Business”, the “Karamursel 100.Yil Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi” and the Colegiul Tehnic “Edmond Nicolau” Focsani, in order to strengthen the key and transversal competences of the students enrolled in technical and professional study courses, whose profiles, at the end of upper secondary education, are often lacking in the so-called soft skills due to the specialization of the different technical disciplines. The project also intends to act on the ability of the teachers of the involved schools to structure educational paths based on teaching skills in order to achieve a real innovation of the proposed training offers. To this end, the involvement of 2 teachers, of the technical subjects, for partner institutions that will follow a training course on didactics for skills and educational strategies aimed at strengthening the key European skills in the students is envisaged.
The objectives of the project will be:
– to enhance the participants’ key competences and soft skills;
– to enable participating teachers to acquire skills related to the use of competence based teaching techniques;
– to Strengthen the internationalization actions of the schools involved.
Each exchange will be attended by a delegation of 8 students per school, plus 2 chaperons teachers, as well as to ensure that all involved learners involved can live peacefully the experience of transnational training. A total of 28 teachers, 7 teachers of technical and professionalizing subjects will be involved for each partner school (3 teachers will participate in the transnational meetings necessary for the development and implementation of the planned activities; 2 teachers will act as guides for the students during the mobility phases; 2 teachers will take part in the transnational training phase on competence teaching).
The project will have the following impacts on the participating pupils:
– Enhancement of language skills;
– Improvement of multifunctional alphabetical competences;
– Increase of the digital competences;
– Improvement of time management, stress management and problem solving skills.
– Improvement of relational, communication and emotional expression skills;
– Development of entrepreneurial skills;
– Enhancement of competences of cultural expression and active citizenship.
On the teachers who will take part in the transnational training action, the project will realize the following impacts:
– strengthening of the capacity to activate training courses based on competence-based didactics;
– improvement of competences related to the use of teaching methodologies aimed at the development of soft and key skills in learners;
– strengthening of language skills.
In general, through “SCHOOL FOR S.K.I.L.L.S.” a process of renewal of the Training Offers of Partner Schools will be started and their levels of internationalization and openness to the European contexts will be strengthened.
