Project Summary
Living and teaching many years in the Western region of Greece and specifically near Ancient Olympia we have noticed that many children are failing in school and many children also choose to leave school. These children are mainly Romani or come from families with low income. After a quite close observation from the position of our duty as a teacher we believe that the existing school system is not attractive to these children, for many reasons but most of all, because the typical school is not taken as a need for these kids and their families and it is far away from their culture. We also have the strong feeling that other countries as well are facing the same or similar problems in their education systems. So we would like to capitalise on our ancient culture and especially our playing yard games that leaded us to the Olympic games and we are willing to use them in a type of an outdoor school with many physical activities, plays and games that will take place in the beautiful surrounding of Ancient Olympia. The program will contain mobility to other countries where students can develop their personality interacting with foreign students, presenting their country, playing, acting and learning. We are convinced that there have to exist some basic principals in order to succeed a peaceful and free education environment with good practices. We are visioning an outdoor class where everybody is taking part and nobody is judging. On the contrary we will create a safe and happy outdoor classroom that tolerates dissimilarity and respects other cultures and traditions. Also we intend to develop our skills in English and exchange good practices with our partners in order to help our local community more especially families that are facing economical problems and need some support with the raising of their children.Main objectives:
-To create an outdoor curiccula and good practices for 700 students developing tolerance, respect, team spirit and perseverance in their ability.
-To connect with Olympic spirit, competition and every day effort for 100 students in Ancient Olympia
-To realize the beauty of disimmilarity among people through ICT technology communication for 500 students that will interact and collaborate in research and playing.
-To create digital products with multicultured features for 700 students as a universal language without words, but other ways that children around the word understand.
-To disseminate program’s activities and products with a focus on the new outdoor playing guide that will has been produced and on our new app about the way children manage to communicate without typical languages.
-To create a more enjoyable outdoor learning environment trough playing activities and events witch promote cross-curriculum learning and exchange of good practices for all partners throughout the entire project period.A)Output title: “Children’s plays through time-the connection with the Olympic Games”

1.From October 2018 till March 2020 teachers from all partners will create a material which can be used as an accompaniment material in every lesson in order to connect a class and build strong relationships between the members of a group or a class of children. Also can be used to strengthen of shelf-esteem.
From October 2018 to December 2018 all teachers from all partners with their students will search all the historical sources through books, internet, songs, poems and will take interviews and will give questionnaires to children’s parents and grandparents asking about what they used to play when they were children.
2.From January 2019 till June 2019 every partner will collect and choose that plays from every country, according to their findings, that are similar to the other partners’ findings. Into the same period the Greek coordinator, working with students from the local community and using the same methodological tools, will search also for similar routes between that plays and the Olympic Games.
