Project Summary
The aim of the project was to establish such a partnership which helps as part of the participating teachers’ lifelong learning their training, self-training and preparation for the reduction of dropouts and early school leavers via seeing and adapting different good practices and alternatives and innovation. The aim is to develop high skills and competences as well as to support the schools to tackle early school leavers and students with disadvantages.
All teachers must be ready for constant renewal but the online trainings, self-training and taking part in national trainings did not live up to the expected result. Other countries apply different pedagogical and methodological means so we could hear and learn new methods and alternatives from them.
Dropout at school is a complex problem which shows up at school, though, but can be traced back to several factors: problems in the family, difficulties in studying, school environment, the lack of trust between teachers and students. These problems influence negatively not only the student and the family as well but is harmful on a social and economic level, too. We have to find solutions for the prevention and reduction.
Our ideas are in harmony with one strategic aim of the education policy of the EU for 2020 according to which the percentage of the school leavers without qualification should go below 10%.
We were searching for ideas and good solutions with our partners that can bring renewal. Different alternatives are emerging in each country for solving the problems, that is why we have established the Hungarian – Portuguese – Polish partnership. In the framework of this, in addition to digital and online consultations, we also organized exchanges of experiences and mobilities, during which we could get to know the good practices of the participants in person, learn different methods, tools, innovations and prepare for their adaptation. This brought a kind of professional renewal for teachers to gain inspiration, which meant even more possible new solutions for them in the given topic.
During the professional mobilities, usually 12-12 teachers took part from the partners, who could understand the questions of who-what-why while sitting in the classroom and talking to the teacher colleagues and the children.
As a long term impact we wish to achieve the daily adaption of the alternatives, innovations and good practices described and presented by the three participating institutes in the interest of preventing dropout. In the meantime, the teachers’ professional competence, attitude and motivation are improving.
The experience obtained by all three partners in the project and the integration of the good practices into the work of the institutes were strengthened by professional disseminations. Thus, we wanted to achieve that the acquired knowledge could be shared in the possible broadest circle. That is why we are preparing a publication. To this effect we organized professional workshops, kept our websites and eTwinning surface constantly. Our experiences are publicized on the Project Results platform.
