Project Summary

In the project ‘Schools promoting Renewable Energy’ it was inteneded to promote the ecological consciousness of pupils towards energy recovery and energy consumption .
There were five schools of four different countries involved in the project: two schools from Spain (Terrazza/Catalonia, Sevilla/Andalusia), one from Turkey (Istanbul), one from Italy (Mirano/Veneto) and the organising school from Germany (Marburg/Hesse).
We worked in several steps in the project:
1. Energetical Exploration of the own region and the own school
– summaries of the use of renewable energy in the regions and the school
– . visits in ecological villages or in ecological functionning companys
– contacting regional experts and public agencies for collaboration possibilities
2. Drawing up of teaching modules dealing with new energies in different subjects which could be used and compared in the different countries. Subjects involved: Geography, Physics, Politics &Economics, Biology, Technology + interdisciplinary . The established modules can be used in bilingual courses or as sequences in normal courses.
Realisation and rules:
– development of specific modules in participating subjects in the language of the country and in English, containing all relevant and required material
– modules referring to the reality of teenagers
– background knowledge related to the subject
– sustainable materials, so that they can be reused and be used by other schools and teachers for a similar project
– constructing concrete products
– instructions to enable a smooth and guided course of the modules

3. Realization of the modules in different countries
It included:
– a filled in questionnaire of each school participating
– realization of the modules in the participating schools
– exchange and comparison of experiences and results
– synthesis of results in English

4. Presentation of the modules and the results during the meetings:
It included:
– students’ presentation of their results (exploration of the region, creation of products) in English at the meetings
– best project presentations will be awarded
– interactive realisation of the modules during the meetings

5. Dissemination of the modules via eTwinning (https://twinspace.etwinning.net/4766/home), school networks and national education boards
It included:
– Delivery of pedagogical material that can be used in different schools
– Publishing the materials for the different subjects on pedagogical internet platforms
– Exhibitions of the project-materials in the schools on teh walls and presentation during school-activities
– Forming of permanent working groups dealing with Renewable energy and its promotion
