Project Summary

Solid urban waste is a problem common to all EU countries. The problem is particularly felt as it appears from the investigations, carried out analytically, that highlight critical aspects of various levels and consequent common needs: alignment with EU rules, progressive reduction of waste, increase the percentage of differentiated disposal functional to recycling / reuse, essential for the circular economy.
Starting with this need 7 partner organizations implemented the project SELECT WASTE FOR THE EU ECO-SYSTEM PROTECTION (SWEEP).
The main objectives of the project were:
1. To increase the sense of responsibility of the adults 50+ regarding the importance of waste separation by training the them to use of digital tools and technology related to the recycling/reuse of waste through an e-learning model provided on an interactive digital project platform
2. To raise the awareness of the local communities about the importance of improving environmental protection
3. To increase the access to the information of the current European legislation relying on the Circular Economy and innovative perspectives until 2030
4. To implement a training model designed for a target of people 50+ whose purpose is to update / increase their digital skills and train them to use the digital tool to separate the collection of waste for their recycling / reuse;
5. Exchange and capitalization of good practices and innovative experiences focused on chosen target
6. To increase the effectiveness of a European cooperation aimed at an issue of concrete interest for citizens in order to build up a Europe of people.
We managed to reach all the established goals through the following activities:
– to create a training model for adults, target 50 +, aimed at motivating citizens to collect organic waste for recycling.
– to present, in the training model, the current European legislation based on the circular economy and the innovative perspectives up to 2030.
– to promote EU community collaboration on the theme of recycling / reuse of solid urban waste.
And through these activities we reached the following results:
1- The development of a logical approach to the problem and the different systems of separate waste collection in EU countries
2- Creation of an interactive learning platform
3- Innovative research contents on the recycling / reuse of solid urban waste
4- E-learning course: 3 interactive training modules available on the platform
The overall results of our project are:
