Project Summary

The founders of kindergartens which are the cities of Martin, Jicin, Kalisz and Daruvar as well as pedagogues in kindergartens feel the need for more intensive re-processing of regional education, as well as creating new ideas in the field of regional education in kindergartens, improving teaching tools and learning resources. A joint project to create a set of educational tools that contribute to raising awareness of the importance of European cultural heritage through pre-school education is for that need an excellent opportunity.
In the frame of the above mentioned needs we see the opportunity to realize the project entitled „Show me my city“. Through this project the pedagogues in kindergartens can share the experiences in the area of regional and global education in kindergartens, exchange the best practices and support the international and transnational cooperation, improve professional skills and knowledge in the field of early childhood education and care (ECEC), but especially work together to create new learning tools and to develop and improve regional education.
We focused on two target groups: founders of kindergartens and pedagogues of kindergartners. Another target group to which the results will be applied is pre-school children attending kindergartens.
The goal of our project “Show me my city” will be to obtain the ideas verified in practice of other country within EU for higher quality f pre-school education with the aim in a playful way to mediate information about city, region, its history, traditional gastronomy, ancestors, significant historical city sights and develop the positive attitudes of children towards the city, region, homeland; to creative new learning tools for developing regional and global education and increasing the multicultural literacy of children; to present the activities in the area of kindergarten education which support the value of cultural heritage of the EU country; to support the exchange of the verified approaches and innovative working forms aimed at developing and strengthen the emotional relationship of children to creative activity of city inhabitants or certain territory through experience learning; to develop the cooperation with partners from the other EU countries in this area
The following institutions will create the cooperation and partnership:
1. The Slovak Republic – The City of Martin, municipality, the founder of kindergartens
2. The Czech Republic – The City of Jičín, municipality, the founder of kindergartens
3. Poland – The City of Kalisz, municipality, the founder of kindergartens
4. Croatia – Češki dječji vrtic Ferda Mravence, Daruvar kindergarten
The following results are expected during the project and after its completion:
a) getting to know cultural differences in individual partner countries and approaches to the development of regional education in kindergartens, strengthening multicultural education in kindergartens;
b) the opening of children artworks from kindergartens with the topic “TOP places in my city”;
c) the calendar compiled from the most interesting artworks of children in partner kindergartens;
d) video “TOP places in my city” from events or educational activities and excursions in the city; creative by events or educational activities and excursions in the city where children Introduce their city;
e) the drawing up table board game entitled „Show me my city“, a learning tool used by kindergarten teachers to develop regional education of the cities.
We expect that the impact of the project will be on the all involved participants and organisations. The project through networking and exchange of experiences among kindergarten pedagogues will contribute to transfer knowledge, improvement of methodology in regional and global education. It will strengthen the cooperation, it will create the space for teachers to work on creating new learning tools and contribute to improvement of education in kindergartens in the area of regional and global education.
We expect that the educational activities carried out in the planned range and number will be a contribution in the area of the exchange of best practices and innovative working forms, in the development of key competencies of pedagogues which will then lead to higher quality of pedagogy and education of children, effective development of cooperation among partners and opportunity of next cooperation also after finishing of the project.
The sustainability of our project results also arises from long-term interest of pedagogues, founders and cities that children from kindergarten would participate in important city events in order to develop the positive attitudes of children to their city. The educational table game can be used not only pedagogues in their educational activities but also by parents, grandparents and citizens of the city.
This project motivates us to work more intensively in Erasmus+ with the aim to intensify cooperation with partners in EU countries.
