Project Summary
The present project has had the objective of acting to promote the social inclusion of the over 60s, overcoming the obstacles created by the progress of communication technologies and the globalization of languages through the identification of a good shared practice for the creation of opportunities for quality and personalized learning on the specific needs of the individual, with particular attention to the integration of the participants in the digital age.In fact, Skills for Seniors envisaged a dual purpose: to facilitate the exchange of good practices for the promotion of active aging activities and to create new educational opportunities for the over-60s focused on reducing the skills gap and improving relationship and understanding skills of the current world.Thanks to its implementation, the project has achieved the following objectives:-creating quality training opportunities for adults, aimed at developing knowledge in the field of English, ITC and media literacy, European citizenship- improvement of the living conditions of the over 60s, in terms of personal autonomy, communication skills, social inclusion and active citizenship- to modernize and update active aging and social inclusion activities of the participating organizations through the cross-fertilization of good practices- promotion of active aging and adult education- creation of a good practice shared at European level.The project was divided into two types of activities to be carried out in 24 months between 10/01/2017 and 09/30/2019:On-site training courses (virtual mobility): three training courses (English language, ITC and media literacy, European citizenship) to be carried out on site. Each class consists of a maximum of 25 participants. In detail:- English language course –30 hours – January-March 2018;- ITC course and media literacy – 30 hours – October – December 2018;- European citizenship course – 30 hours – April-June 2019.Short-term mobility: three international exchanges, one for each subject of the courses, to deepen the acquired knowledge and put into practice the new skills with the comparison with peers from other nations. In detail:C1: 30 / 09-06 / 10/2018 – Malta – 33 participants on the move – topic: learning English;C2: 04-10 / 06/2019 – Poland – 33 participants in mobility – topic: ITC, IT and media literacy;C3: 25/09 – 01/10/2019 – Italy – 34 participants in mobility – topic: European citizenship. The activities were organized taking into account the specific target group, composed of adults who have left the world of education for years, and aimed at being actively involved in the participants, avoiding lectures and applying peer learning methodologies, learning by doing and project working designed for the over 60s. The management methodology used envisaged a subdivision of the project into four blocks (Preparation, Exchange of good practices, On-site training, Short-term mobility), in order to allow the Project Staff to carry out a more complete monitoring of the implementation of the actions. For the practical organization of the activities, four Transnational Project Meetings were held:- Spain 27-30 / 01/2018;- Cyprus 24-28 / 06/2018;-Hungary 29/03 – 01/04/2019- Finland 23-26 / 08/2019; SFS is successful in achieving a positive and lasting impact on several levels: At the level of participants directly involved: – improved knowledge of the English language, the functioning of ITCs, media literacy and European citizenship rights for participants – increased ability to participate in active citizenship and social inclusion actions – improvement of the living conditions and personal autonomy of the participants – increased resilience and adaptation capacity to change – creation of interpersonal relationships with peers from other international organizations – improved knowledge on the functioning of the European Union and on the rights and duties of European citizens At the level of partner organizations:-cross-fertilization, internationalization and exchange of good practices between organizations at European level and creation and experimentation of a shared good practice – launch of a continuous cooperation between partner organizations for the sustainability of the project activities and the start of further collaborations – improvement of the skills of the operators of the partner organizations. At the level of indirectly involved participants: – awareness of active aging and adult training activities – better knowledge of the training opportunities offered by the European Union – creation of replicable quality training courses – launch of collaborative relationships between organizations even outside the partnership for future actions and project proposals.
