Project Summary

Unlocking critical and creative capabilities is a key to the development of hidden potential of each person. For the sake of the proposed project, artistic practice should be viewed more in terms of creativity and innovation it can bring into existing structures and functions rather than institutionalised social practice of, for example, going to theatre or cinema. Art can thus foster improvements not only within its own field, but more importantly, also in the field of active citizenship and education. By allowing creative practitioners to work alongside teachers, the project will target the development of teaching practices using creativity as a transversal key competence, to improve teaching and learning methods. The project partners will adapt, develop and test new holistic approaches involving creativity and critical thinking to deliver positive changes to formal and informal educational settings, improving the integration of disadvantaged children and youth.
The overall long-term objective of the project is to bridge the existing gap between the world of artistic practice (creative and cultural industry) and the world of formal education through strengthening the cooperation and networking between creative practitioners, educators and cultural managers – creative agents.
Specific objectives of the project:
– to adapt, develop, pilot and implement innovative methodology in the field of elementary and secondary school education and non-formal education settings (Methodology for Creative Learning in Public Spaces);
– to support children and youth in strengthening their interpersonal, social, and civic competencies through participation in the action research;
– to develop transformative competences in children and youth through participation and creativity;
– to encourage active citizenship and social entrepreneurship of children and young people through art in public space, performance, interventions, digital media and new technologies;
– to co-design and exchange practices among the participating organisations;
– to prepare and deploy training of professionals (creative agents) for inclusion challenges and creative learning methods.
There are three main target groups addressed at different stages of the project. The staff members (project managers, researchers, creative practitioners), educators and youth. There will be almost 100 participants involved in preparation and implementation of the project activities. There will be two joint staff trainings for creative agents – key actors in facilitating the cooperation between educators (schools) and creative practitioners (cultural/art centres). The development of the methodology will be ensured by the participating organisations and divided into four phases – preparatory, planning, realisation and evaluation. There will be piloted an innovative methodology of creative learning in formal and non-formal educational settings in Slovakia and Serbia. The project includes revision of creative learning methodology, reporting, evaluation and publishing of the project’s results. At the end of the project, there will be two multiplier events organised in Slovakia and Serbia.
By implementation of the above-mentioned activities, the project brings innovative practice to educational settings in the participating countries. It is expected that the project and the application of creative learning methodology will support youth in strengthening their interpersonal, social and civic competencies through creativity as transversal skill. Children and young people will have acquired new artistic methods, combining them with their knowledge and experience. From the experience of the innovation partner, creative learning program implementation improves relationships of young people with teachers and parents.
The project objectives will be achieved by creating opportunities for schools, teachers and creative practitioners to work together. This will include transferring, adapting and implementing creative artistic approaches to teaching and learning processes. In the long-term, the project aims at creating innovative infrastructure for the collaboration between creative and cultural industry workers and educators in Slovakia and Serbia. Regarding the future of job market and opportunities, there is a strong need for new approaches to address the issues of collaboration between key agents in the fields of art, culture and education in respective countries and across the EU.
