Project Summary

The “Social and Economic Inclusion through Youth Entrepreneurship” (SEITYE) was a strategic partnership project in the field of youth primarily aimed at developing new, innovative and complementary tools and models for promoting community-based entrepreneurship and education programs based on the social needs of communities where there is a large number of young migrants and young refugees. This project has developed a new and innovative curriculum, and it has compiled, created and tested new educational approaches for better social integration. To this end, cooperation was built between six partner organizations, respectively from Netherlands, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, and Portugal, with the main aim to create a project plan to tackle issues relating to social inclusion for young people with migrant backgrounds. The duration of this project has been for 26 months – from September 2018 till October 2020 – even though it encountered certain hindrances relating to the Covid19 outbreak.

Nonetheless, partners organizations identified the creative potential and spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship among their youth. However, this potential is still often not correctly used to develop the communities the young people belong to. During this twenty-six months project, we have been able to involve nearly 500 youngsters with migrant backgrounds through:

– A study based on a social, educational and economic analysis of the communities where this project will be implemented;
– Developing a curriculum for social entrepreneurship for young people with the migrant background;
– Providing short-term training aimed at participants coming from all the sex organisation that take part in this project
– Organizing several dissemination activities on the national and European level, such as local seminars and an international conference to share the project results and to inspire other stakeholders to develop and implement such educational alternative curricula.
– Producing a final report with the primary outcomes and learning achievements of the cooperation project.

We have provided a comprehensive educational program for organizations working with young migrants and young people with a migrant background, the policy recommendations for encouraging social inclusion of youth with migrant backgrounds and a thorough analysis of programs and initiatives on aforementioned social inclusion and entrepreneurship programs in local communities of a partner organization. These project results are now available for civil society organisations (CSO) and educational stakeholders (both public and private) willing to use them.

Each of the project partners developed their network of organizations on the national and local level that ables participation in this project. As a result, the stakeholders coming from the educational, labour, private and public sector, and youth work organizations evaluated the project’s impact. It increased the potential effects on each partner organisation’s local and national level. For example, increasing the quality and efficiency of the existing educational support to young people at risk situations would generate more employment, reduce early school drop out, and develop more social cohesion in our communities.

We met four-time in Transnational Meetings: Germany (Sep 2018), France (Apr 2019), Greece (Dec 2019) and the Netherlands [online] (October 2020). In addition, we recorded a Multiplying event and uploaded it on Moodle (an online educational tool) to share the results of this project with a wider audience.
