Project Summary
Sportive (sporting perspectives for orientation and reflected transformation of individual behaviour)
Living together in a family, in a peer group, at school or in a community, in one’s own country or abroad is based on certain values. The own values and those which have been adopted from our social surroundings determine the thoughts and behaviour. They influence the individual development of each person.
According to the curricula and educational plans at schools it is necessary to create opportunities for the development of individual ideas and values which are meant to lead to a reflective judgement. Being aware of one’s own values enables people to enter an open discourse with different value systems.
First of all the development of one’s own personality based on a reflected awareness of values is made in real life. In addition to imparting knowledge and skills, it is especially action and experience that enables the school students to assume responsibility for their school life. A European and democratic teaching culture offers value-forming and meaningful orientation and thus contributes to a long-lasting development of competences of all students.
This is the starting point of our SPORTIV project. It aims at the individual and personality development of the students by providing opportunities for participation and judgement particularly in the field of sports. The unity of body and mind is to be newly perceived and interpreted from a multidisciplinary perspective. Various sports projects focus on the different perspectives sportive activities offer. This way the students are supposed to become aware of their values, develop them gradually and become ready for a positive change.
The following tabular overview presents how all projects are assigned to the perspectives of sport and refers to their interdisciplinary character. The different perspectives of sport are examined concerning the following aspects:
Perspectives of sport
1. Improving, understanding and mastering results and performance
2. Experience orientation
3. Risks
4. Design of movement
5. Social learning
6. Health promoting
Implementing the projects and reflecting the experiences gained are meant to have a positive influence on the personality development of all participating students so that they can jointly manage living together in the long term.
The goal of the Erasmus project is to impart a deeper understanding of the significance of sport and its correlation to health and an overall well-being of the human regarding various perspectives of sports.
Students between the ages of 13 and 18 from all three partner schools participate in this project. Different year groups will be working on the SPORTIV projects in the periods between the meetings. Five representatives from each school will then meet to implement the project modules.
In the following, the mobility “Improving, understanding and mastering performance” is shown as an example. During the meeting, the participating students will draw up questionnaires which will accompany the SPORTIV project as a whole. An introduction to quantitative research methods with the help of the GRAFSTAT programme will follow. It will be used at all three schools after the meeting. In addition, sports movements, such as the throw of a basketball will be recorded and analysed by using digital media. The functioning of the human musculoskeletal system and, biomechanical aspects of sport will be examined. This includes the calculation of launch angles, trajectories, acceleration forces and impulse transmissions as well. The participants will also get a closer look into the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The recorded videos will therefore be analysed from an interdisciplinary perspective in biology, physics and chemistry and will contribute to a better understanding of the activity. During the project, the linguistic competence of the participants will be promoted, as the projects will be done in English. This language is a foreign language for all participating students. The resulting videos of the various sports as well as the movement analyses will be made available to the partner schools so that they can individually support their students and design interdisciplinary projects for movement analysis.
All results of SPORTIV (videos, Kahoots, blogs, photos) are supposed to be of a long-term benefit in lessons beyond the project. The project is being presented to the public in articles in the regional press and in a blog.
We would like to present the SPORTIV project as an example of Erasmus projects in the Seminarschulverbund Südthüringen (SSV). The SSV teaches future teachers. The young colleagues are thus given an example of interdisciplinary and international learning and teaching. This way the future teachers could function as propagators and create ideas for prospective Erasmus projects.
