Project Summary
The skills and the competences that young people need in the present time change everyday. They have to be able to adapt to the labor market which is constantly evolving.School has to prepare its students for the labor market, to ensure they gain skills and competences that go beyond the regular competences provided by teaching the regular curriculum.Entrepreneurial skills will contribute to the employability of young people in particular, as well as supporting a new business creation. The main goal of our project is to develop these skills for teachers and students. On the other hand, we intend to raise awareness on the importance of local economy. We want to link the cultural heritage to the world of business and commerce. We intend to do this by emphasizing the ways to promote local products as a way not only to develop local economy, but also to keep the cultural background and traditions alive. We will find ways to link the past to the present by reinventing six local products and make them suitable for nowadays markets. The students must use their creativity to promote one local product across Europe. The students will work according to a strict timetable and in accordance with the project methodology. There are a few steps we want to take in developing the transnational company:
– research on the product
– find the potential customers
– carry surveys and studies on the local consumption habits
– create the virtual company which markets six products. We will be able to develop this company after having meetings with local businessmen, entrepreneurs, NGOs, Chambers of Commerce and other such entities. These can teach students about the legal and administrative procedures when starting a business, about the whole business principles they have to follow in order to be successful.
There are educational objectives as well. We aim at promoting equality and inclusion among our students by including students with different difficulties into the carrying out of the activities, promoting European values and citizenship. We also aim at promoting a comprehensive approach to language teaching and learning and ICT use. It will prove that the topic of entrepreneurial education can be taught interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary. Moreover, this project encourages the cooperation between educational institutions and local business environment. We will create a strong connection between our school and the local business environment and the parents.
We also intend to develop basic skills in an innovative way. We will encourage teamwork, leadership, time management, risk management, project management, self esteem in our students, multiculturalism, respect for diversity, inclusion and equity, project-based learning, creativity, cooperative learning and teaching, oral and written communication in English, cultural awareness, design.
We will develop a series of final products, both tangible and intangible. We will create reports and surveys, brochures, commercials into the local media, videos posted on youtube, ebook with the steps we take and final products, an eTwinning digital book. We will work on the designing of these products during the six project meetings hosted by the countries involved. During these meetings we will also prepare fairs of the products to introduce it to the local people, do research and presentations about consumerism and work on developing one department in the company at a time.
On the long term our project aims to bring up students who are well prepared for the entrepreneurial world and for the employment. We are sure that the competences and skills developed by this project will decrease early school drop-out, decrease youth unemployment among our students. As a long term objective, we expect to create young entrepreneurs in the six partner countries. Our schools will incorporate good practices , new methods and new learnings in their curriculum. With these new learnings teachers will be able to educate the students as to become competent entrepreneurs with employability skills. Our project offers an example of cooperative project -based learning, starting from situations as close to reality as possible, involving students, teachers, parents and the whole local community.
During the two years of project, links between teachers, students and local business entities will be created. These links will ensure the project sustainability and continuation. There will be local/ regional/national projects which will follow this project.Teaches will continue collaboration with their partners, sharing results and good practices. They will use virtual meetings and the eTwinning platform. Students will maintain the friendships they created via social networks. Schools and local business entities will find new ways to collaborate and develop new projects together.
