Project Summary

Context:
The developments in the field of science and technology today have created the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) component and made it almost mandatory for this component to take place in the education system. For this reason, the STEM component has taken its place in the education system of many countries, especially in European countries. STEM, which initially took its place at the primary and secondary level, formed the STEAM component by incorporating the concept of art and started to take its place gradually in the preschool education system. STEAM is an approach that allows children to learn by experimenting and exploring and aims to maximize their interaction with the environment. This approach that leads children to research, question, produce, creativity, critical and analytical thinking plays an important role in the development of their skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. For this reason, it has become an important approach in today’s preschool education system. However, the lack of innovative vocational training modules and educational materials on STEAM for kids negatively affects the spread of this approach. Today, although the STEAM approach tries to take its place in the pre-school education system, the insufficiency of education modules and materials in this field is the most important factor in not using the STEAM approach widely and achieving the expected success from this approach. Achieving success in STEAM for kids will be possible with the development of innovative education module and educational materials in this field. By collaborating with project studies at an international level, information sharing on STEAM for kids and transfer of innovative applications will be provided.
