Project Summary

The Pedro Poveda School in Jaén (Spain) and the Sint-Romboutscollege school in Mechelen (Belgium) have been collaborating in exchange projects for three years. Now under an Erasmus + project we will work together on a common project where the role of women in the field of science is highlighted.
When designing the proposal, we start with three premises:
The need to increase scientific vocations, since it is a field where thousands of jobs are being created, the need to offer scientific literacy for the entire population, regardless of their subsequent studies and highlighting the role of women in our current society and, in particular, in the field of science and technology.
For this purpose, we will design a series of teaching units where each school will work on women’s contributions in the STEM field, analyzing their discoveries and designing experiments that review or relate to the studies or works of these scientists. All these activities will culminate with his public exhibition at a science fair organized annually by Pedro Poveda School in Jaén.
In relation to the mobilities, a first flow will be made to Belgium to prepare the activities jointly among all, in international teams and a second flow in Spain where the works will be finished and exposed to the public. The cycle will be repeated the following year, improving the errors that we may have made and introducing the improvements derived from the intermediate evaluation. Each quarter will also work on a specific theme.
Our collaboration will be carried out through the organization of an eTwinning project.
In the end we want to present to the educational and teaching community a book with the activities designed, available to anyone interested in reproducing our work, allowing the impact to remain over time. Although in our case, we will continue using them, with its corresponding improvements, in events such as the day of the girl and the woman in science or the day of the woman.
We hope in this way to contribute our small grain of sand in favor of equality and gender equity.
In reference to the diffusion, this will be throughout the entire project and both in nearby media and in contributions to conferences or lectures by teachers, without forgetting social networks.
