Project Summary
Context of the project
The world is experiencing a fundamental change and sustainability is a commonly desirable subject considered in all areas of life, including new business models. Companies should not only pursue sustainability (economic, social and environmental) to comply with regulations but also to respond to the recent changes in consumer behaviour and prospective legal and regulatory frameworks.
The proposed project is in line with supporting the EU-supported UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) set for quality education in that it aims to ensure that learners acquire knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, equality and diversity.
Objectives of your project
The project seeks to achieve the following objectives:
OB1: To review the most recent and relevant materials devoted to sustainability that are applicable in an organisational context in the EU and beyond
OB2: To design a working life-oriented training curriculum whose learning outcomes reflect the labour market needs and the critical learning areas of students in sustainable management
OB3: To deliver high-quality and easily accessible training in sustainable management
OB4: To develop learners’ sustainable management skills needed in virtual teams, i.e. teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills, as well as adaptability to new situations.
Number and profile of participants
The main target group consists of students from management disciplines and technical studies, needing to increase their knowledge and competences in the field of sustainable management and its relationship to the innovation.
Wider groups of beneficiaries include alumni and students from other higher educational institutions (HEIs), teachers and representatives of businesses.
In general, it is estimated that the project will affect at least 200 students of master and bachelor studies during the project implementation and 1000 students in the following years, when the intellectual outputs will be integrated in the studies curricula.
Description of activities
Most of the project activities belong to the Intellectual outputs:
IO1: Dynamic material bank
IO2: Training curriculum
IO3: E-learning module & materials
IO4: Guide to virtual teamwork
Overall, the IOs, their associated deliverables and other results deriving from the project are expected to benefit various stakeholders dealing with issues related to sustainability in an organisational context. On a broader level, the project results support achieving sustainable development in an organisational context within the EU and beyond and as guided by SDGs.
Methodology to be used in carrying out the project
The project will use a fresh approach to teaching, innovation pedagogy (INNOPEDA®), developed in the Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programme by TUAS. Innovation pedagogy refers to all those methods and tools that are necessary when implementing the innovation process in learning and to the development of learners’ innovation competences. Working-life orientation, flexible curricula, and multidisciplinary learning environments are essential requirements for Innovation pedagogy to succeed. Students need good study skills to take an active and responsible role in their learning. The methods used in delivering education must be activating and versatile. Giving students opportunities to work in a real-life assignment is essential when aiming to improve their innovation. The assessments are development-oriented, i.e. students can assess their own and their peers’ competences and know-how to develop them.
A short description of the results and impact envisaged
The Intellectual Outputs of the project will offer students the possibility to solve real-life problems devoted to sustainable management in a truly multinational environment. Gaining skills in such an environment will support students on a European labour market. Additionally, the cooperation can be continued after the project to provide new ideas and improvements in the education offer.
The potential longer term benefits
The project results will be spread and integrated mainly at the academic and tertiary level of education and additionally, as a way of upskilling and broadening knowledge of managers and employees of various organizations willing to increase their competences devoted to sustainable management. Sustainability is a crucial aspect of everyday life not only from the perspective of public and administrative bodies, but also companies which need to cope with the new demands, such as climate change or devastation of natural habitat. Providing the knowledge on sustainable management to students of managerial and technical studies will offer the possibility of real change in future companies.
