Project Summary
Talentstad Beroepscollege is a secondary school for vocational education. We have learned that pupils in secondary vocational education have less chances to have experiences abroad, while they are expected to go abroad once they attend courses at intermediate vocational college and once they get a job. We would like to provide those extra experiences, to make them feel more positive and give them confidence about themselves. Also, with this exchange project we would like them to meet pupils from other countries, to learn about differences and similarities and make them aware of European Citizenship.
Maradalens Technik Gymnasium’s aim is to develop innovative individuals who in the long term will help to strengthen Sweden´s position as a technology and an industrial nation.
In this project, we would like our pupils to achieve the following objectives:
1. Development basic social skills
2. Gaining confidence
3. Creating awareness of European Citizenship
4. Develop Technical skills
The pupils will stay with host famillies, so they will join in daily life and learn about the country and its culture and customs. Pupils will participate in school activities, will go on cultural trips and visit Scania. Contestants will be learning by doing and experiences.
During the project pupils will work on a (digital) portfolio. Pupils from The Netherlands will do this in “Peppels”. In this portfolio they will have to set personal goals. During the stay pupils will work on daily reports and write a reflection after they have returned home.
Pupils will also work on practical and technical skills. If they do well, they get a certificate from both schools and Scania.
We would like our pupils to present their experiences during a meeting with staff, parents and people from Scania Zwolle, which will be assessed.
If this project is successful, we will continue working together with Malardalens Techniska Gymnasium. This years pupils could be our ambassadors.
In the future it might even be possible to include an exchange in our curriculum permanently.
We would also like to look for possiblities to set up more exchange projects. This project is related to Technique and Engineering, but we would also like to offer these chances to our pupils who attend other vocational courses at TalentStad.
