Project Summary
This project was founded by good cooperating schools in former Maths projects. The previuos projects were virtual and theoritical. This project gave us the opportunity to bring the theory into practical useful lessons. Our schools are preparing the first steps into CLIL learning (Content Learning In Language). The projectresults are practical instruments to aligne the importance of the CLIL policy in the school. The given examples will be an inspiration for the staff of all the partnerschools.
Students and teachers prepared lessons in 6 subjects: Maths, Science, Music, History, sports and Europe. This happend in two levels primary and secundary school level. During the 6 short exchanges the lessons were tested on local students. This projectwas a coôperation between 6 secundary schools and 10 primary schools. The lesson plans were refined and brought together in a manual (paper and e-form). The involved students have already prooved their cognitive skills, by teaching, cooperating and presenting they improved their non-cognitive skills as well as social and ICT skills. After 3 years of teamwork we have a big number of lesson plans. The manual is spread to staff, teachers, teacher training centers, students, … We hope that this manual can be inspiring for present and future teachers.
Next to this target we brought Maths and Science in a broader context and real life situations. We worked on presentations of well know national scientists, we ‘ve made a game on scientific knowledge, We ‘ve made exhibitions in schools about Maths and Science, we ‘ve made a presentation on the need of Maths and science (or the application of it) in different jobs. In orderto improve the different meetings we held a survey among the students to evaluate the mobilities and the work, the preparation of the presentations, the visits, ….
All these activities contributed to the improvement of our foreign languages. At the same time we brought Europe into different schools. This cooperation between European schools strenghtened the European knowledge and feeling of all the involved persons (students, teachers, parents and local visitors) and everyone who will use our manual in the future. We also visited local politics, to spread the work we did, we visited all locaal city halls and met the major. After each mobility, we evaluated, and spread a blog about our activities. All activities are visible within the Twinspace of the project.
As a result of this project, we brought the interest of our students in Maths and Science to a higher level.
All our results are spread by using eTwinning and other social media (for instance Facebook and Twitter). These results can be read and used by anybody.
