All countries had strengths in different areas that could be shared amongst the others.

The Objectives of the project;

2) developing digital skills and competence
3) develop literacy skills, oracy, reading and writing.
4) develop the teaching and learning of a foreign language.

3 institutions were part of the project
Cadoxton Primary school. Cadoxton Primary School is a Primary school with 500 pupils, that has been at the forefront of innovation of learning in Wales. We are a Pioneer school that has developed the new curriculum in Wales and regularly have visitors all over the world visiting our school. Digital learning is a key aspect of learning in Cadoxton and we were involved in writing the Digital framework for Wales.
CEIP Maestro Francisco Martinez Bernal which is a Primary level school in Molina Spain with 544 pupils. The schoool is part of a working group for every bilingual school in Molina de Sequra. The head teachers of the schools meet once a month to discuss the different aspect of bilingual educaiotn. There are 6 bilingual schools in Molina de Sequra involving around 40 teachers and 1500 students
IC 16 Valpantena which includes 4 participating schools in Verona, Italy. Instituto Comprensivo 16 is made up of four small primary schools in Valpantena Valley – Scuola Pascoli, with 191 pupils, Scuola Aleardi with 132 pupils, Scuola Merighi with 86 pupils and Scuola Caliari with 82 pupils. During the 3 year period of the project, one school- Scuola Aleardi, was unable to continue.

The project took place over a 3 year period and each year a different country hosted. During that year we would complete a teacher planning visit and a children’s visit.
Before and during these visits, we set tasks to develop a communication between the children and an interest in the project. We also planned activities to share about the culture and traditions of our countries.

The main activities were using and developing digital skills to develop literacy and foreign language skills. The children connected digitally via Skype and email initially, learning how to email correctly and the online safety that is essential for online communication. They shared cultural stories and developed skills in animation, movie making and ebook creating along with creating digital quizzes and other online apps and tools to get to know each other.

93% children said the project improved their digital skills
80% said their literacy skills had improved and 60% had improved foreign language.
100% said they enjoyed working with and meeting children from a different country
All schools have improved their digital resources from the project and improved the way they use digital technology as a tool for learning.
Welsh schools have employed a Foreign language specialist teacher.
Welsh and Spanish schools are embarking on another Erasmus project together with a school in Finland.
