Project Summary
CONTEXT
We are 6 schools from different European countries. We each have our own peculiarities, but also similar issues to face, such as finding new strategies to improve motivation and ability in reading.
OBJECTIVES
We aim to improve reading levels across the school, and develop a love of reading, by engaging pupils in reading for pleasure. At present our results tend to show that many students are reluctant to read for pure pleasure and our statistics show that this is an area in which all we partners’ schools need to improve.
The main objectives of the project “Tell me More”, according to the horizontal priority we have chosen are in the macro areas of:
A) BASIC SKILLS AND KEY COMPETENCES
B) TEACHERS’ DEVELOPMENT
C) SOCIAL INCLUSION
D) CULTURE
(for objectives’ list, see “Project description”)
PARTICIPANTS
The project will involve students from 6 to 14 and teachers of different subjects: around 800 pupils and 50 teachers from the 6 partner schools will participate in the project. An important support will be provided by the families of the students. Collaborations with experts, non-profit associations, local libraries will be promoted; the local press will be fundamental for the dissemination of the results achieved and, therefore, will be sent articles for publishing in the local newspapers. The language of the partnership will be English, used in all communications.
METHODOLOGIES
Storytelling, Animated Lectures, Learning by doing, Mastery Learning, Cooperative learning, Use of Internet, Team teaching, Strategic-Motivational approach, Maps.

IMPACT
The project will have an impact on literacy skills in mother tongue as the main focus will be on reading.
Pupils and staff will gain an overview of children’s literature and this will give children the opportunity to put their ideas into practice and to solve problems and evaluate ideas. Pupils will actively be involved in the planning and the development of the project in both years: they will learn to work collaboratively with their peers and new friends in partner countries. By reading stories and books they can learn to understand themselves and their feelings , the world and their role in it.
Students will develop their research skills and their ability to present information in a different and creative way, integrating learning in literacy, ICT, art, music and design.
RESULTS
Through participating in this project and raising standards in literacy, long term benefits will provide evidence that by taking part in a variety of ways, the results will show a positive impact on teaching and learning of literacy for all pupils.
Community links with parents, grandparents, libraries, associations, volunteers will all have been strengthened as a result of this project which will give the school a higher profile within the community.
Staff and pupils will have gained skills and confidence to be able to work with others across Europe and the EEA in an enjoyable way developing their global dimension.
Mobility visits will take place each half term, where monitoring, evaluating, and exchange of work will take place. Staff will experience different education systems to improve their own continuous professional development and share best practice with specific links to raising their own pupils levels of reading.
