Project Summary

CONTEXT / BACKGROUND
The difficulty of mastering a language is among the most important causes of material, social and psychological insecurity that a “foreigner” can experience in the difficult integration process (social, occupational, cultural …) in any country. For these reasons, language learning is to be considered one of the most strategic fields of intervention in the logic of integration.
On the other hand, understanding mathematics cannot be considered less fundamental or unrelated to knowledge of a language in that, along with being contiguous to, or perhaps even a part of the former, it is an essential component of the learning tools necessary for an inclusive process. Think about the need to resolve small and large financial problems, being able to adequately express a speculative thought that involves numbers and/or measurements or achieving a basic educational qualification …
Related to what has been described above, the universality of Theatre, the fact that it has a “natural” language that is accessible to everyone while putting aside the “spectacular” nature of its identity, is an indication of how it can play a powerful role in the complex mechanisms of relationships and learning.

AIMS
The main objective identified as a result of the considerations presented briefly here, was to create experimental methods to be applied in Theatre to sustain learning processes and the social inclusion of migrants.
However, during the project planning phase, it was decided to create functional products not only in formulating the guiding methodology for linguistic and maths literacy for migrants, but also to disseminate the results which, from a broader perspective, have the added value of promoting networking between individual professionals and organisations that customarily work in the area of learning, arts and social inclusion.

Training activities
In the 3 partner countries, 4 workshops for operators and 2 courses for refugees and migrants were organised, which served to test and refine instruments and methodologies during their production phase.

Dissemination
Operated through:
­ e-mails, newsletters and press releases that have produced wide visibility on national and regional media,
­ organization of multiplier events and invitations to various symposia in Europe,
­ website, Facebook page and Social Platform of the project.

PARTICIPANTS
Adult education operators, migrant learners and stakeholders working in the areas of learning, arts and social and labor inclusion.

OUTCOMES
The main expected results are:
1. an increase of skills by educators who deal with migrants,
2. an increase in the number of courses that use the methodology: those organized by the partners, as well as those organized in their respective countries,
3. to make the methodology a European reference product in terms of characterization, significance and usability.
4. an increase in networking activities between operators and organisations working in the field of learning, arts and inclusion.

IMPACTS
The main foreseeable impacts are all in line with many of those desired by the Program:
– Upgrading skills and professional development opportunities for educators;
– Innovative approaches that provide the target groups:
• new and best practices to provide for the needs of migrants
• new approaches to address social, ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversities
• more inviting educational and training programs, in line with the individual needs and expectations
• use of participatory approaches and ICT based methodologies
– More modern, dynamic, committed and professional environment within organizations,
– Improving the ability to operate at EU / international level.

LONG-TERM POTENTIAL BENEFITS
Also thanks to the Erasmus+ programme and the coordination carried out by a structure founded by a Nobel Prize winner, TELL ME has the ambition to create a complete product made up of various integrated elements, which could aspire to represent a reference at a European level of high level , great visibility and strong impact, usable not only within the educational offer of the partners involved, but also by a large number of educators of migrants operating throughout Europe.
