Project Summary

CONTEXT We are five European schools united by similar educational needs. We want to give our students the most ideal options in order to improve their skills, motivate them and stimulate their creativity and self-expression.We are largely mindful of the demands of the present educational systems that promote pupils’ involvement in extracurricular activities to get them to become more actively involved in their own learning path to allow them to flourish while accomplishing something that are passionate about. Whether high or low-level students, our students are joined in the same wish to meet with other students, share their interests, hobbies and passions, work collaboratively, communicate with them and learn more about European cultures. Even though we are aware that challenges will arise along the way, we are determined to conquer them together as a team. OBJECTIVES We have the following goals for participating students: – to improve their school motivation and to increase their enthusiasm – to improve their pragmatic abilities through photography – to improve intercultural mindfulness and identity sentiment – to acquire values promoted in Europe such as acceptance, tolerance, non-discrimination – to enhance both their language skills and their digital skills – to increase communication, interpersonal and social abilieties – to allow self-expression and creativity – to raise self-awareness and self-esteem Regarding the teachers, the project pursue: – to increase intrinsic and extrinsic motivation – to allow for cooperation and collaboration between teachers in the EU – to allow the exchange of good practice and implementation in schools -to improve the experience in running Erasmus + projects – to develope communication, interpersonal and social abilities. ACTIVITIES To accomplish all these goals and to assign a stronger intercultural component to the project, we decided to combine photography with everyday life of students, their culture, their problems, their opinions and artistic perception. We therefore plan to organize 5 student exchanges throughout the project: 1 – One day in my life – the basics of photography; 2 – My school – techniques of color, light and design; 3 – My City – Composition principles; 4 – My Region – Capturing motion in images; 5. My Europe – Learning to edit photos. Prior to each of these meetings, students will be assigned tasks related to the subject of each project exchange. They will work in groups and will deliver a photo story about each of these topics. During the exchanges, their works will be assessed, will get counsel and will participate at workshops led by experts , where they will learn various tips. Also a new task is attributed to the students as a result of the workshop. PARTICIPANTS Students, who represent our primary target group, are pupils aged between 12 and 14 in each partner school. These will be at the heart of all our project activities and will benefit directly or indirectly from the activities and results of the project. Some of them, 5 for each exchange (25 per country), will have the opportunity to travel abroad to partner countries and be directly involved in activities. They will be accompanied by two teachers in each exchange (10 / country). Therefore, a total of 125 students and 50 teachers will assist directly. RESULTS Our concrete outcomes are primarily about achieving all the stated goals. Furthermore, we expect to create and gather all types of tangible materials such as workshop materials, student’ photos stories, student photos about exchange topics, student’ self-evaluation forms, evaluation tools, feedback forms, dissemination materials like the newsletter, the photo exhibition, the website, the eTwinning platform space, the evaluation reports on each exchange, the participation certificates, etc. IMPACT As a result of this project.valuable experience will be gained by all partner schools. We will learn from each other and we will notice the positive aspects of each educational system. These aspects can be embraced later by our own schools. We will study about the European countries cultures and offer our schools a European dimension. Therefore, we will be more trustful in applying for future projects. Partner schools can continue to collaborate by building a network of photo clubs that can expand to other schools in our or other countries. We will organize photo contests among students in partner schools on various special occasions. We desire to turn this into an ordinary practice. Consequently, the project will support our institutions become more active, visible and valuable on the European scene.
