Project Summary
School looks differently today than it did years ago. Teaching and learning is changing because the world is changing. So our schools must prepare students to become the people who will shape it for the better. We prepare them for their journey as learners for the rest of their lives and as passionate friends of the environment.
Our students will be Primary school learners between 10 and 12 years old. We will be developing similar activities bearing in mind students age, skills, abilities (inclusive education). It is known that Education is the key to integrate all these children with a poor economic situation and with a lack of opportunities in our society. This project is a way to show to all these children that they are part of a community, a society and that they can work for changing their future opportunities.
Learning objectives and activities are designed to provide a foundation for learners to develop their knowledge and skills through challenging and integrated experiences that align with our real world. Efforts to further educational innovation must help prepare students to be captains of their future and creators of a better world. This idea implies applying learning-teaching methodologies that are student focused and foster learners’ involvement such as blended learning, flipped learning and project based learning. Using these methodologies, students become active cause they can adapt the contents and skills that have to be learnt to their own pace, they can recall information any time they need, they interact with other students; in other words they build their learning process while the teacher’s function is to become a guide in the learning students’ development. Teachers and students must be empowered as creators, not just consumers. To succeed in today’s world, our students need to be adapted at not just recalling information but selecting it by applying critical thinking that ends up into an attitudinal change to accelerate the adoption of a sustainable behavior. They have to use their knowledge to conceive, create, and employ solutions to real-world problems.
Our main objectives are:
-Spread and foster Environmental Awareness.
-Foster healthy and wellbeing.
-Reinforce the development of key competences and basic skills.
-Increasing the levels of achievement and interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
-Foster inclusive education.
-Introducing and developing new methodological approaches.
-Applying cooperative work.
-Teacher team work. International cooperation, international relations, development cooperation.
Teacher will apply new technologies and approaches to improve their teaching and lessons. They will plan a set of activities in which their students can apply contents taught in class and develop different activities to improve their knowledge in all subjects.
School’s staff will be asked to participate in the activities that children will develop. School staff is really worthy because they help teachers in administrative issues.
We will involve parents and we will ask for their active participation cause as members of our educational communities they are really worthy.
Local institutions and schools will be informed about the project, activities and results in order to consider them in future educational actions in town. Other schools in our towns will be also informed about the project and will be invited to our schools to see how the project is being implemented.
The results expected are:
– Spread and foster Environmental Awareness in the school, local community and region.
– Didactics units, projects and activities based on new approaches and cooperative working.
– Implementation of new methodologies and approaches in our curricular document in each school.
-Improvement of our students’ results in key competences.
-Spread the lifelong learning thinking in our students and teachers team.
– Spread the cooperative work between our students and teachers team, and between any students or teachers from abroad.
The expected impact this project will have on students is the improvement in students’ learning process integrating cooperative work and social values. Also, our future citizens must be aware that our planet needs to be cared. Not only our students, but parents, school community and local community will be conscious of the importance of protecting our planet.
