Project Summary
The European citizen marathon
“The European citizen marathon” stems from the will of four schools from four different countries, France, Greece, Italy and Spain to collaborate together at international level to offer to their institutes better and more motivating opportunities of innovation, sharing and partecipation. Two of the partners are sharing a 2017-2019 Erasmus+ KA2 project. The experience has been so enriching that they (French and Italian partners) decided to continue it in a new project ,with other two new partners , met on eTwinning . All the partners agree about how the School is now living on two major needs: the need to be more captivating and intriguing and innovative , to attract our teens and youngsters, abandoning traditional teaching – learning methologies. On the other hand, the School needs to give an answer to the growing lost of identity that affects these “digital natives”, lost between the world of the virtual communities that Internet offers, and the real communities affected by loss of cohesion. Starting from this point , the schools involved in the project, created this proposal trying to put together the two needs mentioned above, setting up an experimental educational path that exploits the potential of SPORT .
Sport ,with its educational and ethic values ,can help to pursue inclusion, partecipation, and social aggregation; it is also an instrument of wellness and prevention, as policies, actions and programs of the European Union and its member States teach us.
An “Olympic games”meeting in any LTT activity will offer the opportunity to pupils, teachers and families to practice different sports, individually or in group ,and – through informal and less traditional environments – to learn to stay with others, respect rules, share and contribute to solve problems, develop skills and abilities ,essential for the balanced growth of each individual.
As Nelson Mandela said, ”Sport can create hope”. From the 1st Olympic games” LTT activity, in Valencia, a burning torch will guide our path . The torch will represent our hope that working together we can enhance a common sense of belonging and partecipation and in so doing, adults and youngsters will strenghten their feeling of being European in a spirit of Union , but taking into account and evaluating any diversity.
The Olympic games will end in Falani, Greece .The first Olympic games where born in Greece , and they were played in peace. Marathon is in Greece too . Sport will help us to teach and learn History, Geography, and all the subjects of the curricula of the four countries, in a most stimulating and intriguing way . Teachers will cope with the challenge to look for and find out new teaching and learning methodogies and strategies, pursuing and sharing good practices.
English and ICT use and usage will be improved in more vivid contexts.
Videos and documentaries , posted on social , but first of all on Twinspace, will testify the carrying out of the project.
