Project Summary

Climate change is an important problem for our world and next generations. One of the Europe headline targets is to reduce greenhouse gas emission and to increase renewable energy sources. All people should act in unison to prevent destructive effects of climate change. We should increase awareness of people, if we want to find solutions for climate change. Therefore, schools are the best places to get people to be aware of climate change. With teachers and students, we can rebuild our socities greener and cleaner by decreasing bad effects of climate change and we can prevent annihilation of our world. As climate change is a global problem, we must see the climatic and geomorphological effects of the climate change in different conditions to analyse it globally. Our aims in this project were to provide an inclusive and effective education with an embedded focus on increasing student’s awareness about environmental problems and examing climatic and geomorphological effects of the climate change in different conditions. We used scientifc methods to see the different impacts of climate change in detail with four schools from Turkey, Romania, Portugal and Greece. We did researches such as field surveys and observation in these countries. So, the teachers and students learnt the impacts and results of the climate change through experience. Also we examined the changes in climatic region with De Martonne climate classification. We collaborated with universities in our cities by doing resarch and analyzing the data. Moreover, this project provided active learning for students. We staged drama activities to increase students’ awareness and visited the area of solar energy and biogas production in Turkey and Portugal to develop new and useful ideas about renewable energy sources. Students drew caricatures about the climate change and designed creative waste material. We created videos and a documentary to prevent the climate change and to find solutions. We also prepared a brochure called ”The footprints of the climate changes from Anatolia to Europe” which included the impact of the climate changes and solution offers. The materials were shared on school websites, local newspapers, eTwinning platform, project websites and social media. We also delivered the materials to the schools as a magazine, newsletters, brochure and desk calendar. Students prepared a presentation to their friends after each mobility. They told their experiences, observations and ideas in these conferences. We published students and teachers’ observations and ideas and the documentary film in the websites and thus many people can have a idea about the effects and results of climate change.
We gave priority to the students who were interested in studying about climate change and nature and being open to learn different cultures and ideas. Around 70 teachers and 64 students took part in the international mobilities in this project directly. 3000 students in all partner schools also participated in this project indirectly. This project managed to affect nearly 8000 teachers, students, family members, stakeholders, and people in partner countries by the outcomes and outputs.
