Project Summary
The project untitled “The joy of exploring cultural heritage with new educational methods” is an answer to the need to enhance the quality of teaching and to build among the students the feeling of belonging to an open for the world community of European citizens ready to explore the great diversity of traditions and historical past. It is also to engender curiosity and the awareness that learning may bring about fun and satisfaction. The project is based on the needs shared by the partner schools and their similar targets. The main objective for the Primary School in Szarów is to prepare at least 75% of graduates in the school year 2020/2021 to leave the school with the awareness of their own regional identity and as the citizens ready to work actively for their own communities and with the authentic openness to other groups and cultures. The expected level of these features, which should be at least satisfactory, will be confirmed with the test pertaining to the students general knowledge on one side and the practical abilities on the other. As far as the partner schools are concerned, their aim is to engender the same feeling of belonging to a wider European community to at least 65% of their school-leavers at at least satisfactory level. The beneficiaries of the projects are the students attending all schools involved in the project within school years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021. During this time the students will take part in various activities and projects dedicated to the enhancement of their social and civic competences and particularly shaping the attitude of respect towards their own country and the common European cultural heritage as well. The aspects of great importance will be developing the beneficiaries’ awareness of their own strong sides, but also enhancing their both verbal and non-verbal communication abilities and stimulating their imagination with the use of modern methods of teaching reinforced with information and communication technologies. From each school a group of students will be involved into the mobilities where they will be supported by the members of their staff. The group of teachers involved in the project will be responsible for the activities connected with learning, teaching and organising workshops in each of the schools. The project activities involve, among others, developing the program of all the activities, including detailed lesson plans, conducting lessons of history and form classes dedicated to the issues of intercultural awareness, implementing educational projects within e-Twinning platform and organising mobilities of students in each of the project schools which is essential in case of both sending and receiving institutions for enhancing social and civic competences through international cooperation groups. The methods to be used within the project include WebQuest, mind-maps, multiple intelligences, mobile outdoor games, flipped learning, lecture, brainstorming, and group work. The expected results are the successful adjustment to the life in a multicultural society and the enhancement of social and civic competences for at least 75% of the students attending the project schools in the school years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021; strengthening the quality of the European model of teaching through digital contents and tools for each teacher engaged in the exchange of valuable practice within the staff mobilities, the enhancement of language skills; the development of competences such as openness, tolerance, ability to work in groups, learning from one another, experiential learning, the ability to create a group product, effective communication, responsibility for oneself and others, organisation of working space, and project management through the objectives of all significant parts of the project. Certain elements of the project will be included into educational and didactic programs of the partner schools. The effects of the project within local communities will be observed through its beneficiaries who, due to the social and civic competences acquired and enhanced through the project, will have a real impact on their surroundings. This influence will be increasing alongside the migration process, both in its educational and private forms. The second group of great importance for the effects of the project will be the teachers involved in its implementation. They will effectively contribute to the process of building European identity in subsequent generations of learners. Both of these groups constitute a guarantee of the long-term benefits of the project. Moreover, the long-term effects will be visibly observed both in the national and European dimension due to the multilingual calendar which will be available on the platform promoting Erasmus+, WebQuest, and the mobile outdoor game. Since the access to these publications is not restricted, each viewer will be able to use the program which may as well be an inspiration for developing new ideas.
