Project Summary

The project ‘The Light’ is a collaboration between CSG Prins Maurits (Netherlands) and Constantin Noica (Romania). Both schools want to deepen their relationship built up over the past two years through this project. The theme ‘The Light’ unites people from all languages and cultures (social inclusion) and the theme lends itself perfectly to an elaboration focused on Art & Culture and Science & Technology. With these two perspectives different aspects of the priorities “promoting a comprehensive approach to language learning (CLILL)” and “increasing the interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)” can be integrated in the project. In the project implementation there is a strong emphasis on the development of critical self-reflection among students as described in the taxonomy of Bloom at different levels. In this project the students learn to carry out structured research aimed at a sub-theme chosen within the perspectives Art & Culture or Science & Technology. In the preparation and execution of the in-depth sub-themes, pupils develop not only critical self-reflection but also intercultural sensitivity that is important for working in an international context. Promoting intercultural sensitivity is an important objective of this project. Pupils share the results of their research with other pupils at schools in the immediate vicinity.
