Project Summary
Young people in current pandemic (Covid-19) time lose social contacts, there is a lot of depression, fear, they are locked in an often small place of their own home without any ability to do anything about the situation. However The the current situation offers youth workers a reason and a goal to mobilize their efforts together with partners from abroad to support young people, their mental health and wellbeing and to find a way for them to overcome this problem.
The main goal of the project is the creation of a film document – MIRROR OF THE SOUL, which will be used as a methodological material and will help young people, youth leaders and youth workers to manage stressful situations. To creatively create a space for educating young people through audiovisual technology (film). The partial goals are to reflect on how young people perceive the current situation (limited movement, distance education, lack of social contacts …) associated with COVID-19, how the state supports young people in the field of mental health. And also to support the development of key competences for film processing, to improve the quality of non-formal education of young people in the field of mental health.
Partners CVC Stara Ľubovna (Slovakia), Dum deti a mladeze Vratimov (Czechia), Stowarzyszenie Sursum Corda Nowy Sacz (Poland) within 24 months from 1.3.2021 – 27.2.2023 will provide six international meetings (3 workshops, 3 trainings, online discussions and activities, film processing and film implementation on the basis of:
1.) Exchanges of best practices, sharing experiences in specific areas of mental health prevention through project visits, meetings with experts, presentation of the work of each partner organization to acquire new competencies and be able to use them in expanding and streamlining their activities. Educational interventions.
2) Compare the structural aspects of the partner organizations and the networks to which they belong work, as well as structured dialogue and cooperation with local institutions.
3) Create a working team of two experienced trainers from each country, which will take the role of training designers. This team will work on the development of a film specifically focused on the prevention and promotion of mental health, especially aimed at yotuh and young people.
The project includes young leaders, youth workers, experts in the field of prevention of pathological phenomena, psychology, teachers, social workers, film industry, media.
Through a survey, structured dialogue, discussion, story telling, short film shots and practical exercises we will help youth workers, youth leaders as well as young people themselves to manage stressful situations. The film Mirror of the Soul will be made to reflect the current time and coping with stressful situations.
After the end of the project we assume that the processed film will serve as a methodological aid for youth workers and other professions working with youth, but will also serve the young people themselves, as a guide in a fun – educational form of coping with stress, mental health support. It will also become a relic, a memory of a very special and tough time we as a people and especially young people and youth had to go through.
