Project Summary

We present our project motivated by the need to develop, in an interdisciplinary and global way, habits related to the practice of sports and the promotion and transmission of traditional games. In addition, the funding of this project will allow us to continue fostering essential values for our students, such as knowledge and respect for other cultures, the practice, and improvement of the use of other European languages, as well as teamwork as a means to achieve common objectives and achieve greater motivation in our students. In this way, we contribute to giving greater social and educational value to European cultural heritage and social cohesion through a democratic and participatory approach.

In the project participates a team of coordination in every associated country that is in charge of selecting the most suitable teachers for mobilities. These teachers are selected from different departments according to specific criteria. In the same way, the students will be selected for said mobilities following these common criteria:
1. Adverse socioeconomic situation and/or risk of social exclusion.
2. Situation in educational disadvantage, geographic and cultural difference.
3. The use of English as a common language among all partners.
4. Sports performance: a minimum knowledge and level in sports skills in different disciplines.
5. Attitude and adequate prior interest for participation in team activities, excellent behaviour and a high degree of responsibility. Do not forget that, when the partner center is the host, in that visit will involve their entire educational community, including a teachers, professionals, multiple local students, interested families, and any local media interested or involved in the planned activities.

The purpose of our project is to promote the sport and practice of traditional games of each member country and thus promote coexistence among all members of the educational community to avoid early school dropout and give an opportunity to all our students at a disadvantage, such as those students of migrant origin, equality, including gender equality, non-discrimination and social inclusion, also of people with health problems, through education, training, youth and sport.

The proposed activities are divided into two intimately linked blocks:
– TRADITIONAL GAMES. This block of activities will be done before the Erasmus + project through an eTwinning project called with the same name. Through it, the students will get to know each other, work in mixed groups collaboratively and investigate about the traditional games themselves as well as the rest of the associated countries. They will create as a final product a digital book with all the selected games as well as the most characteristic ones will be reproduced in a video, they will be posted and shared as sports challenges.
– OLYMPIC GAMES. The participating centers through the mobilities will recreate some Olympiads with different sports disciplines typical in each country and will be held: an opening ceremony with a tour of the Olympic torch; practice and sports competitions; the practice of their traditional games; activities related to their culture and traditions and a closing ceremony. For this, the sports will be worked previously continuing the eTwinning project.

These activities will be designed according to the following methodological guidelines:
1.Favor the interaction of students and their personal initiative, autonomy, creativity, critical spirit and ability to communicate what they have learned.
2. The methodology is communicative, collaborative, active and participatory, aimed at achieving objectives and the acquisition and development of key competences.
3. The activities are based on real situations that encourage meaningful learning and improve the reading comprehension and oral expression of the English language.
4. We will give opportunities to students to improve their digital competence.
5. Diversity will be addressed, especially working on social inclusion and non-discrimination.

As a consequence, we promote a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning languages, taking advantage of the growing linguistic diversity in the partner schools and incorporating the use of new technologies to support language learning.

The dissemination of activities and results will also be taken care of through the media and social networks, where students will participate in order to promote the use of ICT. Many activities can continue at the end of the project through our eTwinning project, so its results and benefits can be extended indefinitely.
