Project Summary
Communuication has become vital in the globalizing World.Beginning to know other countries and cooparating with them have caused some communicational problems.Communication problem is the most important problem of learning and teaching foreign languages. It is not enough for a language learner to know the structure of the language in order to use it effectively.Also ,he has to learn the culture of the language.So the importance of culture in teaching and learning a language must not be forgetten.The fact that the cultural elements of the language are important for the true communication is accepted by all the linguists.The four factors forming a language are reading,speaking,listening and writing.The fifth and the most important one is the “Culture”.because the experts have understood that if we do not know the culture of the language we learn we cannot communicate easily and perfectly.
The fundemental target of EU is to form cooperation with strong communication.To achieve the aim,the language is the most important means.EU commission ,in most studies has stressed that EU citizens can emphatise with other cultures by learning a language and so they will be able to prevent prejudice and also they will be able to cope with racism.
EU Commission is responsible for practising educational and cultural policies of EU .
Since the commission started working they have determined “multi culture and multi language” policy as the target and have started to direct member countries to reach the target.
One of the aims of Erasmus is to foster the awareness of cultures and multi language and to provide improvement in language learning.
Also one of the three fundemental ideas forming European Language Portfolyo is to use cultural values in language teaching.
In view of the ideas given above,our project aims to improve the dialogues among cultures of the EU countries; to enable the people from other countries to have close relationships ;to improve the language proficiencies of the participants; to provide EU consiousness and to increse the quality of their education.
Our Project consists of high school teachers and students.The age of the students is between 14 and 18. 6 students and 2 teachers from each country will join the activities. Our Project,by the title of “The Stories Of The Songs”,contains the narration,singing and acting the stories of the famous songs of the countries also,the participant groups will act sketches about their cultures.
In addition,different effects of drama method on teaching foreign languages will be observed and searched.
At the end of the project,the interest and desire of the participants in the foreign language will increase and their speaking abilities will improve after gaining cultural awareness and European consciousness, the tolerance and dialogues among the partners will increase.Thanks to the transnational cooperation between different educational institutions ,their educational quality of the institutions and the participants will rise.
