Project Summary

Origin of the project
: The Poitiers team has strong personal connections with teachers from the Cagliari and Malaga conservatories. Some have played
together in the Champs Elysées Orchestra for over 20 years while others have long-term friendships and have organized pedagogical projects together.
Objectives
: To stimulate and nurture the motivation of adolescent students; to work with underserved student populations and to combat social exclusion; to include handicapped persons (in accordance with the law of 11 february 2005); to develop student creativity; to utilize the students’ energy and emulation to foster skill acquisition; to develop and practice linguistic skills.

Number and profile of participants
: After a selection period, each conservatory will send a group of 25 students and four professors to the partner conservatories. Participating students will be between 13 and 20 years of age and have 5-10 years of experience with their instrument.
Description of activities:
1. Select a project logo (students from the School of Fine Arts will submit several propositions) to unite the three conservatories
and foster exchange.
2. Create an internet platform dedicated to the project in order to facilitate student communication (student profiles, forum, storage
space for sheet music and recordings).
3. Produce a cinema-concert. Contact cinema specialists to choose a silent film; divide the scenes between the three conservatories; choose the creative approach (improvisation, composition, individual musicians, ensembles, etc.). Individual practice to learn each part followed by ensemble and orchestra rehearsals.
4. Creation of several Renaissance recorder ensembles with instruments from Monika Musch. Each ensemble will consist of two
students from Poitiers and two from Malaga; Creation of a recorder orchestra with students from Poitiers and Malaga; Creation of Early Music ensembles and an orchestra Poiters-Malaga and Cagliari-Malaga with students playing melodic instruments and figured bass continuo.
5. Creation of a guitar orchestra consisting of students from the three
conservatories utilizing existing repertoire, arrangements and compositions.
6. Creation of chamber music ensembles
7. Creation of a banda/band
8. Introduction to the music and dance of the Poitou, the Sarde and Flamenco
Improvisation workshop ( free or jazz)
Composition and harmony workshop

Administration Methodology:
The Poitiers conservatory will receive and be responsible for the grant. The grant will be managed and controlled by the administrative department under the responsibility of the director. Pedagogical activities will be developed by the three participating conservatories during meetings in which participants will discuss work methods and best practices as well as
evaluate the concert sites for acoustics and appropriate repertoire.

Expected results and impact:
Concerts will be held to present the results of the activities in the three cities (Poitiers, Malaga, Cagliari) and to highlight the
work of students and teachers.
