Project Summary

Our project has paticipants of three nationalities (France, Italy and Spain) that have as common points the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language, except Spain, and the theater as a working methodology of social issues; as well as a concern to respond to the growing problems of integration and coexistence. The objectives of the project are expressed in two blocks of participants and three lines of action:
1. Students:
A. On the social level, immersion in the reality of the immigrant and multiculturalism “from the other shore” is promoted.
B. At the linguistic level, complementarity is sought between the coordinator, who will assume an active role as tutor in the learning of Spanish, and the partners, who will take advantage of the exchange to improve their linguistic skills.
C. On the theatrical level, the theatrical representation, the work of creation, acting and scenography, imply a dynamic learning of skills that is not frequent in the secondary school curriculum. Students will see their confidence strengthened through public representation and will achieve a greater degree of understanding of the problems of the immigrant population.
2. Teachers:
The design of training seminars, conducted by the participants trained in the three subjects: eTwinning tools, “Theater of the oppressed” and Spanish as a Foreign Language, will qualify the participants and coordinators in the disciplines that are the technical basis of the project, while the practices of the new knowledge acquired, will be the necessary starting point for the activities prior to the mobilities of the students. On the other hand, the work carried out in the activities with students will have as main objectives:
A. At the social level, get new approaches in the treatment of social integration.
B. On the linguistic level, develop a collective work method in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
C. On the theatrical level, apply the techniques of the theater of the oppressed as a methodology of representation and social awareness.
18 students for each partner will participate in the mobilizations, six students with immigrant families profile, Six students with bilingual program profile at risk of school abandonment and six more with profile of participants in theater activities in the center. The students will move in family exchange regime in groups of six for each location. Teachers must complete: the psychopedagogical orientation profiles, Spanish language teachers, theater teachers, ICT managers and extracurricular activities with level B2 in English and / or French. Before the mobilities with students, we will start from the experiences of students with multicultural profile, recorded on video and shared by eTwining, in order to create texts for the representation of scenes of daily life in each venue, these texts will be they will be previously create using the eTwinning platform (TwinSpace project “Theater for shipwrecked”) in order to joint creation through visoconference and shared documents.
During the mobilities we will work in two groups:
1. Work with students, which will be divided into rehearsal-oriented essays and those that prepare illustrative presentations of the creative process and its results. This exhibition will be guided by the students to document the audience as previous experience to the representation.
2. Work with teachers, who will be divided into the three main axes. In the social axe, adapting the work on the coexistence of each partner for the creation of “Mediation Teams”. In linguistic one, incorporating teaching methodologies of Spanish and collaborating with their learning. On the theatrical level, with the practical development of the representations. When the mobilities return, the scenes will be represented in the venues that made it. Reflection and debate in the context of the “Theater of the Oppressed” are the key component of the activities. Therefore, the teachers in each host will divide their time between the direction of the work of the students and the observation of the practices that allow the improvement of their centers.
The results:
1. Reinforcement of the Student Assistant program for integration and coexistence. Creation of the “Mediation Teams”, students trained in the resolution of integration and coexistence conflicts.
2. Creation of the Student Tutors program, which will be responsible for protecting the work of the students of lower levels. In Spain, this group of students will be completed with the participating teachers to assist situations of students who join the educational system without knowledge of Spanish.
3. Identification of the center with a theatrical line marked by its social connection and awareness of the educational community and the environment promoting solidarity attitudes.
