Project Summary
Our project allowed the pupils of each partner country to exchange and share ideas and practical experience through exchanges. it also permitted to increase students’ knowledge about globalization and its consequences, to develop their critical thinking and to act locally. It made foreign languages more attractive to students from partner countries, invited them to work in mixed groups and improve their entrepreneurial skills in innovative means of communication (film, ICT, videos, prezi presentations…).
Furthermore, this project enabled present and future European generations to become more aware of what globalization is so as to better understand and build their future together. Besides the overall goal of upgrading and reinforcing education, each partner organisation pursued concrete objectives and benefited from this Strategic Partnership. Thanks to this project we achieved the following goals
1. To gain experience in coordinating transnational projects
2. To expand the network of transnational contacts, international education, global interconnection
3. To enhance ICT-based teaching and learning
4. To develop and stimulate creativity and innovation
5. To enhance cross-cultural education
6. To motivate students to get higher results by applying innovative approaches
7. To engage low-motivated and disabled pupils in extra-curricular activities (photo, movie, survey)
8. To act locally
9. To develop special knowledge on clomate change
10. To promote solidarity, social responsibility
11. To experience new challenging trainings and collaborative efforts aiming at improving current education
12. To develop abilities and skills in communicating online using English
13. To build a bridge between different cultures by exchanging their experiences and observing each other’s life styles.
This transnational partnership encouraged young people to become responsible citizens within Europe, to be aware of and respect different cultures and also understand the need to work together as part of a larger community to ensure the future and sustainability of their world. Being introduced to different cultures helped them develop their own identity as well as make them more tolerant towards other cultures and people. All this resulted in the learners developing a sense of belonging to the local, national and European community. The partnership also promoted positive relationships, friendships and a spirit of hospitality and respect among students while broadening students’ cultural horizons and helping them understand that every society has its complexities and diversities. We could raise the competences and motivation of students by giving them the chance to be integrated into an international partnership.
The first main assignment for them was to prepare a movie for the other schools to introduce our school, the area we live in and a survey and the measn of transport.
By preparing it they developed special knowledge on the subject itself and advanced their abilities and skills using the English language. During the first meeting in Poland the film was shown, and the students worked in international groups creating a logo for the partnership.
In Greece they participated in a poster competition, which helped them to develop a deeper understanding of the necessity to address this topic. The students in all participating countries created posters about the topic and during the meeting they participated in a handicraft activity whose aim was to create Christmas decoration with recycle materials. For the meeting in Germany, they had to produce and present a powerpoint or a video about what the local authorities do to be environment -friendly.This obviously helped the students to develop their sensitivity towards the protection of the planet and to realise the need to address this subject.
The meeting in Italy was focused on eatin habits and health. Students presened their favourite food and eating habits and lead a reflection about how globalisation may influence their food. They also realized in mixed international team the book cover for the recipe book. The mobility in Portugal wwas the opportunity for students to investigate on the origin and spreading of a global product (cost, transport, quality…) versus the exportation of a local product in order to compare and to promote the local product.
Unfortunately, the mobility had to be cancelled because of the pandemic. But during the additional months of the project, we realized the videos about the recipes and thanks to virtual meeting we managed to cretae the cahrta about how to be greener.
All these activities were achieved keeping in mind that we wanted most of them to be used as means of dissemination (charta, recipe book , videos, films, logo…) and we also wanted to create eco-freindly team behaviour.
