Project Summary

1 / The undoubted quality as Erasmus + KA219 Educational Project Exchange of Good Practices as we have designed it will give the CPI Mosteiro-Meis a qualitative leap in its teaching and learning methods along with the social, cutural and economic benefits for the locality And Galicia in general.
2 / At the same time we would like to emphasize that this project it is a shared effort of two European partners in these difficult times for the EU Post-Brexit and it comes from the agreement with the country most affected by Brexit: Ireland. The project is part of and will be developed with a school in Galway, the EU 2020 Cultural Capital, and will deal, among other things, with the enormous educational, economic and social benefits the EU has brought to Ireland specifically in this part of the EU; the maintenance of the “Peace Process” in the Ulster, seriously threatened by the Brexit. Therefore the success of this project, which will culminate with a possible twinning with the EU’s Cultural Capital, Galway, in August 2020 has an enormous symbolic character and of enormous effectiveness and influence for all the partners of the Union at this moment of difficulty.

The inclusion of a new curricular activity called “Meis & Galway’s time museum for the cultural capital of the EU 2020”, which will be inserted transversally into the official curriculum at both schools, which will create multimedia resources for the promotion of tourism open to the public and by means of which the ethical, cultural and integration values of the EU will be promoted; new didactic methodologies and advanced use of ICT will be applied. As a project for the exchange of good practices, both schools will learn from each other how the study and promotion of local natural, heritage, cultural, local languages and in general the education plan is followed in both schools for the R & D of these elements. As a curricular activity we will have 3 annual evaluations, therefore 12 evaluations at the end of the program in August 2020.

The action will target to 15 students per country and year, a total of 90 at the end of the program in 2020 and a team of teachers fully committed to the project of this Erasmus action and its continuation after 2020. At the same time and from the first day, both teachers and students and city councils of both villages will know that the schools will present in July 2020 a final report to be incorporated as part of the European capital Galway 2020, and decide if a EU twinning between the two villas is requested.

Both Colaiste Iognaid of Galway and Meis CPI Mosteiro-Meis lack of international programs or Erasmus activities and have a real need for this type of action due to their geographical location and socio-economic situation which leaves both schools in a situation of inferiority in comparison with others that do have this type of actions.

CPI Mosteiro-Meis has been trying to give a European dimension to the center: we have included 4 bilingual sections in the primary education stage. We have a language study group (CUALE program) to obtain the A1 title and prepare for the A2 test; cultural visits to European capitals; We have in place the European Development Plan in which we define our objectives and priority actions to achieve them (available on our website). This project would give the definitive impulse towards the internationalization of this our center.

1 / We have a school in Galway, a city with a high historical level, bilingual, Cultural Capital of the EU 2020, precisely for its model of economic development based on the study of historical heritage and bilingualism for the attraction of tourism and economic development .
2 / We have a school in Meis, with the same bilingual and heritage background that aims to reproduce the model that has made Galway selected as European capital EU 2020.
3 / We have also designed a really strong strategy of dissemination and coordination through monthly Skype connections, 4 management meetings and 6 weeks of activities aimed at deepening our school studies, in addition to the introduction of ICT elements, media coverage of the transnational activities and the annual production of a television educational program that will summarize our studies and that will be transmitted in both countries on TG4 and TVG, channels with which we have a collaboration agreement.
4 / Finally, our aim is to provide students with the EU’s labor competencies and ethics to facilitate their entry into the EU labor market and at the same time the teachers and schools involved will change their teaching practices by incorporating the best of others.
