Project Summary

In the project “Investigar, exponer y debatir para aprender a ser críticos” participated 2 schools:
Gymnázium Luďka Pika, Plzeň, Czech Republic
IES Isabel de Villena, Valencia, Spain

The main coordinator was Iva Sloupová from GLP.
In total aprox. 600 students from the age of 13 to 19 from both associated schools took part in this project.

Our project pursued two main goals:
1. Getting our students to develop a critical capacity by analyzing, researching and discussing close problems.
2. To investigate, implement and introduce innovative teaching strategies into the classroom.
In addition, we wanted to enrich both objectives by incorporating European perspective in order for the teachers to exchange strategies and results, beside that the development of awareness of European citizenship in our students, based on respect for diversity and democracy.
Therefore, our project includes four thematic axes (Environment and Ecology; Human Rights; Equality; Food Sovereignty) that summarize, from our point of view, some of the most serious problems that we currently face as European citizens, and with which the new generations will have to continue to deal in the future.

Our previous experience and professional profiles allow us to assert that we succeeded in our task. From our point of view we achieved all of the project’s aims. Students and teachers went through new experience with international cooperation, they got to know culture and everyday life of different nations and they also improved their foreign language level. We enriched learning with new activities.

Thanks to the project, now the activities can be used by many other students and not just from our schools. It is only necessary to adapt them to student’s level.
