Project Summary

Our project “Tracking the common heritage steps” lasted due to coronavirus pandemia for 3 years (not 2 as planned in the application form). We were 3 partners in this partnership – Czech school (coordinator), Slovak school and Croatian school (partner schools).

The project was dealing with 3 topics – cultural and historical heritage, foreign languages and natural surrounding. The topic of cultural and historical heritage focused on architectural dominants from the turn of 19th and 20th century. This kind of topic strengthened the ties between the partner cities and improved the pupils´competencies to be responsible for sharing the cultural and historical heritage on European level. The coordinating school from the Czech Republic was responsible for this topic and served as the host school for the first two training activities. The next topic was the topic of foreign languages. Through this theme we wanted to improve pupils´ English language skills and communicative skills in practice. We also focused on broadening the English vocabulary concerning the other project topics: culture, history and nature. The guarantee of this theme was the Slovak partner from Kremnica and served as a host school for the third training activity. The last topic of the project was the natural surrounding. Guarantee of this theme was our Croatian partner from Končanica and should serve as a host institution of the fourth training activity. Nevertheless, the last mobility to Croatia could not be realized due to the outbreak of covid pandemia all around the world and so we decided to realize the last topic of Natural surrounding each at our own school and further send the outputs of the project activities to the partner schools.
Throughout this topic we improved the pupils´abilities to cooperate and communicate (mostly via online medium) and we also improved their competencies to be responsible for sharing their natural heritage.

In this project we involved quite wide range of pupils and teachers. After short discussion we all agreed on the cooperation of the pupils of age 12 – 14 (Year 6 and 7). Due to covid pandemia were the pupils involved for one more year – till Year 8. Involved pupils were selected at the very beginning of the project period and were involved in all project activities during the 3 years of the project. We included highly motivated pupils with good English communication skills. The groups of 8 pupils took part at training activities C1 – C3. Then they worked in mixed international groups and had to carry out all the project activities.
All the teachers involved in the project were highly motivated and were fully responsible for seamless fullfilment of the project tasks. All of the teachers also participated as tutors of groups of pupils and were ready to help with all the project tasks. For each training activity C1 – C3 there were 3 participating teachers and 2 participating teachers for C4. We also cooperated with local organizations such as Local Information Centres and the Club of Natives.

Altogether there were 3 Learning Teaching Training activities:
1) C4 – Project Management Tasks and ECVET Implementation – dealing with risk analysis, manual for handling risks and mitigation plan, effective methods of virtual communication, ECVET certification and dissemination activities.
2) C1 – Culture and History – starting with the virtual cooperation amoung pupils (carrying out a questionnaire prepared by pupils themselves), followed by excursion around Nový Jičín with expert lecturer from the Club of Natives, making a video guide of Nový Jičín and its historical dominants.
3) C2 – Understanding Each Other – starting with the virtual cooperation amoung pupils (fulfilling the tasks to find detailed information about the origin of partners´ home towns and formulate them as a story), followed by reading and compiling the stories and translating them into English, followed by creating a game of quartett (dealing the project topics – culture, history, nature…)
4) C3 – Natural surrounding – should take place at Croatian school in Končanica. It started with the virtual cooperation and then unfortunately the covid pandemia started. Pupils in their hometowns continued in taking photos and describing flora and finally created herbariums with samples of flora and their depictions.
Training activities C1 and C2 were evaluated by the supervising teachers and rewarded with small gifts. As a result each participant received an ECVET certificate. Unfortunately, training activity C3 wasn´t realized properly at the partner school and so all the participating pupils were rewarded just at their schools with small gifts.

All the participating schools and their staff got key project management competences and developed smart management and implementation methodology. Furthermore, all the outputs created during this project are directly used in the lessons of art, history, science and foreign languages.
