Project Summary

Tradition a source of inspiration – from the region to Europe.

The Erasmus + project will connect three European countries – Poland, Iceland and Portugal. We will undertake activities contributing to the children, parents and society awareness of the importance of European cultural heritage through learning. In the scope of our project there will be activities supporting the development of skills, social inclusion, critical thinking and involvement of children. New participatory and intercultural approaches to tradition and heritage as well as educational initiatives aimed at establishing intercultural dialogue with teachers and students from an early age will be supported. Participation in the project will enable us to exchange professional experience, raise language competences of all project participants, deepen knowledge about the traditions and culture of the participating countries.
The main goals of our project are:
– improving the language competences of all project participants,
– raising knowledge about the usage of new technologies among children and preschool employees,
– raising interest and broadening knowledge about our tradition and national culture and other countries, – creating a real sense of belonging to Europe,
– raising competences among employees that work with children with various disabilities
– preventing occupational burnout among employees by acquiring new experiences, learning new solutions, observation, conversations and workshops with employees of project partners.

These goals result from the needs of institutions that are partners of this project. By implementing the project, we will strengthen the sense of belonging and identification with our own nation as a basis for understanding being part of a united Europe. We will acquire knowledge and experience on the implementation of the objectives of the Dalton Plan at an early stage of education. We will learn the methodology of working in the spirit of Reggio Emilia and teaching with the use of activities in the sciences. We will learn about the organization of work with children with disabilities, requiring support, with special needs. We will gain new experiences in working with bilingual children and with groups in which children from mixed either ethnicity and cultural families.

The goals will be implemented through joint activities on the following topics: national cuisine, traditional songs and dances, children’s games, holiday traditions, national weeks and through the realization of project activities. To document and disseminate all activities in the project, a video will be created and distributed online. Current activities will be made available to children of parents and the local community on the project website prepared in English and translated into the languages of the countries participating in the project. We will post information about project activities also on the websites of participating institutions, in the local press, and in nearby educational centers. We will share our cultural heritage to feel that we are similar to each other at the same time. We will strengthen the sense of belonging and identification with our own nation as a basis for understanding how it is being part of a united Europe. We will share our cultural heritage, the traditions passed down in our countries from generation to generation. Employees of partner institutions will share their experience, learn new methods of work, improve their skills in the field of foreign language learning and the use of new technologies. The way of expanding knowledge about the culture and traditions of other nations is the most effective through contact with these nations. The experience gained and new knowledge learned during visits to partner countries will be passed on through presentations, workshops, exhibitions, articles in the press and on the Internet. Thanks to such activities, this knowledge will remain even after the project ends. It will be used by successive groups of employees, students and parents.

We are convinced that after the completion of all children, employees of schools and preschools, parents and the local environment will know and understand the values and traditions of the regions of Europe from which all project partners came – which will help us to understand the cultural diversity of Europe and further the world.
